The portion he talked about getting guys who WANT to be HERE…that we’re not their 3rd or 4th or fall-back option…having a UAB FB coach recruit with that mindset - and pulling 3* & 4* talent - takes balls and I love that it was part of their approach.

Not only that, if UAB was their back up plan they politely (I'm sure) just disengaged. They clearly have a cultural mindset they are looking for

Vincent could have made that transition very ugly, stuck the knife in. Instead he remained a team player, protected the player on the team, and helped make Dilfer's taking the HC job run smoother. He's a class act.

I am a big fan of Coach Vincent. I only know what I know from his time at UAB. He gets my respect and admiration.

Don't forget about the 205 day event at Iron City today. Doors open at 4:30.

TD gave a shout-out a couple of times tonight at the 205 event to Bill and Bryant for the incredible job they did here.

I was really surprised at how good of an event that was. No time wasted, entertaining the whole way through, and damn that was a really solid spread for $10.

Not that anyone asked, but the one negative I had was that CTD was clearly kind of anxious to get out of there after the event (hearing him talk to fans), but I'm not sure what other setting would exist for meet & greet. I'm not one of y'all that meets with coaches 50 times a year but my first reaction with AK was way more pleasant than my meeting with CTD.

Not trying to seem too negative because man that was an excellent event. Thank you to everyone that put it on!

We had a good experience meeting him at Bartow Arena. He took time with my grandson and the recruitment has begun. Lol

The food was good except for the buffalo chicken slider (didn't like the bread) and those beef tenderloin things

Coach Dilfer introduced the assistants on stage and let them tell about the new recruits for the upcoming season

I wasn't there, but in the past these things are basically just highlight clips of each signee with the coach talking about how good each is going to be. The clips and rah rah enthusiasm are the point, and do not really lend themselves to be well expressed via the written word.

Basically a TLDR article would likely read "Coach showed highlight clips of D1 athletes dominating kids who are not D1 athletes, explained why each player will be awesome at the college level. History will likely show that he was correct in his assessment of up to 40% of them, but know one knows at this point which 40%"
