Trying to Figure Out NET rankings
Just looked at updated NET rankings. Let me first say that I'm not arguing that Memphis should be higher than 42. I would say their being in the upper 30s to lower 40s sounds about right. I don't understand the inflation for Mountain West teams and St. Mary's (6). St. Mary's has not yet played Gonzaga (12) and their best wins are against Mountain West teams. Gonzaga has played and beaten much stronger P5 and ranked opponents. I don't understand the love fest for the Mountain West. Utah St, Boise St., Nevada, New Mexico, and San Diego St. seem to be fine (not spectacular) teams but all ranked in the top 50 NET. i don't see great/impressive wins from this group other than playing each other. Seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. I do see that most bracketologists are not slotting these team in line with their net (i.e lower). I'm sure a statistician from MIT can explain it, but it just doesn't seem to be passing the eye test for these teams.

Ha ha. Okay, okay. I'm not an expert by any means, and I don't want to project myself as such. I just saw a pattern, didn't trust the NCAA's narrative, and did a little digging. What I saw effectively proved to me that the NCAA was being misleading at best. Tiger Joe, just read this thread for more than you probably want to know:
new AAC hoops scheduling
And the tail end of this thread has more stuff too:
