RE: February 1 Football Signing Day Thread
This is not a paid endorsement, not even Twitter likes, but Alex A. has a very nice subscription work which I find very informative.

The biggest nugget on his NSD work is that 13 of the 25 scholarship players (additionally two are PWOs bringing the total to 27) are now on campus, nine being transfers and four h.s. players.

Having NINE transfers or JUCOs on campus for winter conditioning and spring ball is fantastic.

That article says it all. Great find!

I am not the best contributor when it comes to football. But I do want to point out an issue with the article, they misspelled Ypsi:
“On Wednesday morning Hoffmann faxed his letter of intent more than halfway across the country to Yipsilanti, Michigan, the home of Eastern Michigan University.”

Otherwise, interesting article. Thanks, Cid! And sounds like we got a fairly sought after player which always good. Best of luck to the kid.

This reminds me of the Ben Roethlisberger and his recruitment.

OSU wanted him as a TE. Miami wanted him as a QB. Miami won out. The rest is history. 03-cloud9

You may want to rethink any Ben Roethlisberger comparisons moving forward.

Are you suggesting a better comparison might be someone recruited as a TE who later got moved to OT? We've had some.

Or are you suggesting that putting our recruit and Big Ben in the same sentence is a real stretch based on some tangent similarities?

Alex A. in his subscription work discusses him. Had a great rating BUT his recruitment didn't reflect it. Very strange. Something doesn't make sense. #16 in Pa yet only two FBS offers. And committed in December 2022.

Once again, we need to be careful about ratings, etc. etc. A rating of '87' isn't like scoring the 87th percentile on say a college board exam. Someone could rate him '97' and someone else '82.' Just don't know why ratings are what they are.

CC went to HS in WA so that may have helped the kid feel at home.

The kid wants to play tight end! You let him do it.

Maybe he becomes Travis Kelce or George Kittle. If not, he has plenty of time to change from tight end like millionaires JJ Watt and Andrew Wylie did.

Hmmm...is that enough to bump the 2023 recruiting class into the top three in the MAC?

We were number 2 without his rating
Now we are number 2 in the MAC

That is great news! Who is number 1?
Buffalo! We're actually really #1! We've the highest per player average 82.78! The kid from Pittsburgh who's the highest rated recruit to ever play at EMU is an astonishing 87.50! That's typically not A MAC recruit

Thanks, Glory!

Here is another example of a 'head scratcher.' I went thru the list of MI h.s. preps (ranked 1 - 44 by 247 sports).

#14 Decommitted from MSU, passed up a ton of P5 and G5 schools and picked Howard. Interesting we signed his teammate but didn't offer him. Strange? David Goricki (Detnews) had him #25 in MI; Blair #28).

Sometimes things just don't seem what they appear. I have NO idea how this happened.

You are CORRECT. We have the highest aggregate point total AND the highest average rating per recruit.

Oh, I didn't realize they had the overall rankings with transfers, that is cool! Even being #2 in that list is great.

Howard is a cool as hell school.

Especially for males. When one speaks of 'minority population' at Howard, it is males.

Howard's big problem ATHLETICALLY is facilities.

Their gym is about 2,700. Quirky design but they often fill it up now that the team is playing very well.

Football stadium might pass for an average h.s. football stadium in Texas. The stadium can't really be expanded much because one side is bounded by a dorm and the other side bounded by a road which is bounded by a reservoir. Neither can be moved. 03-lmfao

NO way to close off the road which carries north-south traffic thru the campus.

I doubt Howard can remove their track as Howard is a 'land locked' university, unlike say EMU which has land which can be redeployed. IF so, they could build a horse shoe with permanent seating in one (or even both end zones).

BTW, Howard has begun (2023) a 785M building project which will re-build all of its STEM, medical and eventually related facilities including a new hospital (the hospital is not part of the 785M).
