Besides the insane game Emoni had against Toledo , I think this was his best overall game with out me looking at game statistics. Tyson was player of the game and hit lights out. Noah played the creator and drove the lane to attract the D and then dish for the 3.

This also looked like A TEAM playing our 5 trying to STOP the ball from scoring vs 1:1 defense. We doubled down to bother Wilson and switched well on picks and contested shots. However Ohio still made an alarming number of threes but sometimes good offense trumps good defense. I was very happy with the effort from everyone who played.

If we could knock off Ball State then our confidence would really get this team heading in the right direction.

We still haven’t reached our ceiling because one of these days Noah, Acuff, and Emoni are going to go off at the same time. Would be nice to see a glimpse of this first half team against BSU on Saturday.

Legend had one, I believe. This team does not dunk much anyway. Only on breakaways, and they haven’t had many breakaways this year.

Good question, Jerry. And I agree with Luckey, I hope this wasn’t a situation of being the odd man out. ESPECIALLY given how well he just played against Miami. Billingsley, Geeter, and Jihad all played good games. But Gilson deserves at least to enter the game.

If the season ended today, EMU would be the eighth seed for the MAC tourney. Still think EMU needs to win at 4 or 5 of their remaining 9 games to secure the tourney entry. EMU will need to continue to play as well as they have in these last three games for that to happen. Good year or bad, the MAC is always a competitive

Note: since EMU does not return play against Ohio, this win may prove to be very useful in future tiebreakers depending on how things shake out.

Nickle was far more on top of it than me, as is usual. I missed it, but Nickle said he did not even see him, and I simply cannot remember seeing him either. This would not be the first game this happened this season, kind of reminds me of Ray Lee's senior year and that would not be good.

I can remember declaring that I thought Colin Golson would graduate as an honorable mention ALL MAC player. He showed me a lot last year. This year, not so much. I'm just wondering what is going on here.

I can remember you saying that too. Hopefully that still happens for him. But I don’t feel there was much growth from last year. Still, he is an exciting player to watch when he is out there- something intriguing about the way he plays the game, can’t put my finger on it.

I could only watch the first half on ESPN+ due to a family car emergency. However the ESPN+ announcers did say that until more recent games EMU had played selfish basketball and not team focused which is something many of us on this board had been saying for sometime. However, the light bulb came on the game against Toledo and lit a fire for this team. The first half against Ohio U was a thing of beauty with solid defense and outstanding shooting and passing the ball. I note from the box score that even though we were outrebounded and Noah and Emoni didn't have their best performances the rest of the team including Acuff picked up the slack. The best part was not his scoring but his 6 assists. I really like Jalen and Jihad in the starting roles. So yep we are on a tourney run right now. If Ball St is favored for Saturday take my advice take EMU and the points. Glad for Coach Heath and the staff has the team appears to playing to the potential many of us expected and hoped for at the beginning of the season. Can we duplicate the shooting performance we had last night is a good question. Lets see.

I think a more salient point is that in the last 3 games, Emoni, Noah, and Tyson each had really big games. Someone stepped up big in each game.

Going back 6 months with Miggy: Do we have the bigs to go with Emoni, Noah, and Tyson???? Put Ohio's Wilson on our team and we are a top 4 team in the MAC. Easily. We just don't have a 6' 8" or 9" big man who weighs 240+ and is a load inside.

Miggy knew that Stan was trying to move heaven and earth to get Keytonae Johnson (18 / 8 at KSU) to visit. He could have been the missing piece. Not physically big, but a good rebounder and very good scorer now playing, Kansas State, at the highest level of college ball.

I love that TyCuff brought up that he wasn’t aiming for the glass on his last three pointer. If you recall, he had to hoist the ball up last second with the shot clock winding down. When things go right, they go right. Hopefully continues in the Ball St game (because the reverse is also true).

I would also say it was interesting that TyCuff talked about how the opposing players and student sections are always trying to rile up Emoni Bates. Taunting and talking in his ear. I assumed that kind of thing was going on- and assumed why he got some technicals here and there over the course of the season. Must be so hard on the kid to keep enduring that and not spout off in return.

As for the Ball St game tomorrow, I am really looking forward to the key match up in that game: Ball St’s 6’8 Basher Jihad VS EMU’s 6’8 Yusuf Jihad

I would predict Peyton goes off for 20 points and 12 rebounds…BSU more talented than Ohio. Although I liked our effort vs Ohio and our defensive play against them, Ohio still had too many offensive rebounds and scored 79 points on the road against us.
