RE: Coastal Carolina grudge match
When we played Charleston, they had 1 loss (road to UNC)

They had wins over Richmond, blowout vs. Davidson, 10 point win over Colorado State, and wins vs. VT and Kent State. VT and Kent are both top 100 teams in the country (and at the time).

They were projected to be either first or second in the conference. They were tested early and passed.

So i really didn't understand the comments on them (some were really putting Charleston down)....what would that even be based on?

Many posters said a lot of silly stuff about Charleston when we played them as well, a team that is 21-2 and might have an outside shot at an at-large.

But, hey, lets keep make meaningless comments about how we played (insert P5) 32 years ago.

A). Regarding your Charleston question ... Likely wasn't due to a lack of knowledge by the posters as much as it was hyperbole and trying to make a point.

B). "Many posters" - you included - sometimes say "silly stuff" on here. ODU hasn't fared that well against Charleston of late and they usually have a decent team or better. This season is one of their better ones - thus far at least.

C). Your last sentence above is where the "meaningless comment" happens. The teams I mentioned in post #74 which is at least part of what you are commenting on listed the following P5 teams among others (in reference to your last sentence above) - Clemson, Georgia, Missouri, Syracuse, UNC (multiple), VA Tech (multiple), Washington, and Wisconsin. Those teams were all played within the past 25 years which was in reply to your earlier post claiming that this season had one of our toughest schedules in the past 25 years - which you now casually seem to want to change to "32 years ago" for some odd reason. Strickly from a P5 reference, the Monarchs also had the following regular season contests that I had left off during the same 25-year period - Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Oregon State, Purdue, TCU, UVA, Washington State, and West Virginia. All of those P5 games (18 minimum and not including teams like Dayton, Richmond, VCU, etc.) might have been meaningless to you, but I doubt that the majority of Monarch fans would agree with that sentiment.

EDIT: I'm not trying to speak for everyone else, but I believe that what several on here are alluding to is that scheduling the likes of the following out of conference games doesn't give the appearance of trying to create a strong schedule or one that is worthy of "at large" consideration -

UMES
Drexel
VA Wesleyan
Furman
Norfolk State
William & Mary
Gardner-Webb
