Long time NCAA Tourney game analyst Billy packer has passed away, at age 82.

The voice of college hoops for many years. He did a great job. There are a few good ones today, but his stature was really high.

Missed hearing him do games these past 15 years. I recall in the first half of one of the games in '08 where he said something like this about our opponent: "Coach better call a time out right now because Memphis is about to blow them off the court." Which is pretty much what we did.

Did he want Memphis State job when we hired Bartow? I want to say I heard that in the past.
But anyway, I enjoyed him as an announcer. RIP

I've never heard, but I'm guessing you're thinking about his often broadcast partner, Al McGuire.

I thought Packer was great. He loved Keith Lee. He said more than once that Lee was one of the best college basketball players ever and one of the very best he’d ever seen.
