I spoke to Tre Stallings yesterday, and he said that they had really accomplished alot on recruiting. He didn't drop the names of any "blue chip" guys, though. Does anyone know where to find out who we have gotten to orally commit? Just curious. With Eli returning, wouldn't it be nice to have some fresh, tough, and mean guys on defense? Also, did anybody read the article on espn.com about how we were one of the winners as far as returning players vs. those that opted for the draft?

yesterday we got a committment from Adam Abrams, who is the number two runningback in the state of Florida. Some real big names were after him, and lots of schools were upset he committed to us. Seems as tho we have got a real special one in him. That makes four recruits out of the state of FL that we have got committments from! That is all we know, but it appears we are going well so far in the recruting battle, but none of it matters until Feb 5!

USMC, what I've seen says that he is a running back. Set a school record of 1,700 yds. this year.

Well, I for one, enjoy reading up a bit on our future Rebs, but they won't do anything for me, personally, until I see them produce for Ole Miss in a Rebel uniform, but I'm liking what I'm reading on this recruit commit list(thanks for the link, by the way, ATLRebel). Apparently, we did open a few eyes nationally, getting a commit all the way from Connecticut....thanks ESPN)!!, and even Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. Cutt and Co. have apparently been earning some frequent flyer miles this offseason.

This kid, Brandon Jenkins from Virginia, sounds like the real deal and is a DT, which is where we need the most help. If those "stars" next to their names are what I think they mean, this kid should help us stop the run... and fast. I'm a little confused, it says he is from Va. but went to HS in Memphis????? Little concerned about him telling State he would be a Bulldawg, though, too.

I would like to see a couple more quality D lineman committed, and maybe a star QB for the future, but all in all, looks pretty good to me.

Jenkins went to prep school at Hargrove (sp) if I am not mistaken 10, that is why it is like that.

I figured that his parents may have sent him away for HS(since it was a military prep) or something like that, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarity, Marine!!

I get weary of reading about all these guys because they get their heads turned so many way. I just trust the coaches to fill our needs and wait on Feb. 5th. so we can see what we will get.

I'm really tired of reading/hearing about everybody that has committed to LSU. I know they are doing really well, but they aren't the only friggin school in the country getting good commitments. To listen to some of the LSU 'homers', "That's the only place they want to go!"

I'd rather not know anything than to have to go to Peanut.

STILL,
LSU HAS HAD "ONE OF THE BEST RECRUITING CLASSES IN THE NATION" FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS, AT LEAST! I'M CERTAIN THAT YOU CAN SEE WHAT ALL THAT HAS GOTTEN THEM. IT ALL STEMS FROM THEIR RECRUITS COMING MOSTLY FROM LOUSYANA, (THEY GET MOST OF THE TOP RECRUITS IN THEIR STATE) AND JUST NOT HAVING ANYBODY TO COMPARE THEM TO. FOR SOME REASON THE "EXPERTS" JUST ASSUME THAT THE BEST RECRUITS IN LOUSYANA ARE THE BEST RECRUITS IN THE NATION.
WE GOT THE OTHER END OF THE STICK, HOWEVER, WHEN ELI SIGNED WITH US. THEY SAID, "WELL WE REALLY DON'T KNOW IF HE IS REALLY THAT GOOD OR NOT , WE CAN'T COMPARE HIM TO ANYBODY BECAUSE HE HASN'T PLAYED ANYBODY".
I'M WITH YOU THOUGH, I GET SICK OF HEARING IT TOO! 03-puke

I haven't looked at it that way - they are getting several top players from Mississippi and Texas to go with the LA boys.

I just hope we are doing better than I think we are. I don't see how Sherrill does so well at State when you consider how they have fared, lately. He gets these great players and really does do much with them IMO.

YOU JUST HIDE AND WATCH OL' NO EYEBROWS (SHERRILL THAT IS, YOU EVER NOTICED THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY EYEBROWS?) HE HAS BEEN GOING THE JUCO ROUTE ALOT HERE LATELY, AND THAT PRETTY MUCH SIGNALS THAT YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY OUT WHEN YOU START THAT. JUST ASK BILLY BREWER, HE'LL TELL YA. ANOTHER THING THAT IS GOING TO HURT THE EYEBROWLESS ONE IS THE FACT THAT JOE LEE DUNN IS GONE,DUMBEST THING JACKIE EVER DID IMO! DEFENSIVE PROSPECTS WOULD COME LOOKING FOR HIM TO PLAY IN HIS SYSTEM BECAUSE IT IS SO AGGRESSIVE AND IT LETS YOU JUST SWARM TO THE BALL BASICALLY.
COUPLE THOSE TWO FACTS TOGETHER AND I THINK YOU WILL SEE (BELIEVE IT OR NOT) A SHARP DECLINE IN STATE FOOTBALL!

I don't think I have ever seen State College's football prgram in as bad shape as it is now. You are right, firing Joe Lee was stupid, real stupid, and I think Memphis and he are going to do things to State College next season that Jerkie didn't think was possible. I think State College is going to have a tuly pathetic season next fall and it is going to be Jerkie's last season there.

It would be really funny to see the lowly bottom dwelling University of Memphis, of CUSA fame, beat State College on October 11, 2003, in Starkistan!

Joe Lee has been figured out or neutralized by everyone in the SEC - more or less. I liked his attitude; just pin your ears back, run over the man in front of you and swallow the man with the ball, whole. JLD just got "tired" and/or lazy the last year or two at State. He was just drawing a check. I do believe he has been rejuvenated and will have an impact on Memphis' defense.
