I’ll be there tonight! First rice bball game in a while

Going to be a weird game pace wise. Charlotte is the 2nd slowest team in the country. Rice is one of the 25 quickest.

Way too many easy baskets for Charlotte so far. 18-14 them. Charlotte also doing a good job on Fiedler so far.

25-22 Rice with 5 minutes left. Honestly not much to say. Rice defense has tightened up the last few minutes. But we're not making shots so we're not stretching the lead.

That's now 3-4 really good defensive plays by Fiedler.

28-27 Charlotte at the half. Positives? We haven't shot the ball well and we're only down 1. Negatives? Hard to imagine we're only going to give up 28 in the second half and we're down 1.

Frustrating as we have done a good job driving and scoring but have missed so many good look 3’s.

Gotta get Fiedler into the offensive flow. Hasn't taken a shot the entire first half and only has 2 assists.

Bad first offensive possession but good first defensive possession to start the second half.

Olivari heating up. Two straight 3s from him.

Then a great feed from Fiedler and a tough finish by Mason. Rice lead up to 38-32.

Evee 3 and Rice leads 41-32. The looks were there in the 1st half, now they're falling.

This might be the best defensive game I've seen Fiedler play. Has done a really nice job on Khalifa and on a few drives. 43-32 Rice at the U16.

Sheffield draws another charge. 47-34 Rice at the U12. Also, his willingness to turn down a shot and drive has been a constant pleasant surprise this year.

Lead was 13, down to 7.

Can we dispense with the tradition of letting the other team back in?

Charlotte cuts it to 49-42, Rice TO. This is funny because Charlotte is being forced into understanding that they'd have way more than 42 points if they came out of the locker room aggressive instead of playing their standard deliberate offense.

They've also now gone small for the first time in the game, with a 5 who can shoot the 3. I guess a late adjustment is better than no adjustment. But not super impressed with Sanchez's gameplan tonight. Just to add to this. If the 5 you're defending is Max Fiedler, who very rarely plays 1v1 in the post, there's no reason not to primarily play a small ball lineup. You're not sacrificing much defensively and you're forcing him to guard the perimeter.

Now 51-47 Rice at the U8. Great first 6 minutes of the half, terrible second 6 minutes. Charlotte getting the much better looks now and has clamped down defensively. Need to find a spark quick.

We were stuck on “49” way too long for a game against the “49ers”. We finally score to end the 8-0 run but 51-47 makes it a 13-2 run.
