Not a Nike fan? If so, what brand(s) do you prefer for Blazer Athletics

Anybody else. I stopped buying Nike products a while back,
It’s a personal decision. Is a Nike deal good for the school? Maybe (I have no idea). But it’s bad for me and my future UAB wardrobe (which I don’t expect you or UAB to take into account)

Ditto.

If the reason is the reason I think, we're better off anyway

Champion is the new “it” brand for college students today. Let’s sign a deal with them.

Maybe so, but TD has an existing relationship with Nike, and Champion has no reach to help with scheduling.

I don’t think Champion is the “It” brand. I haven’t seen anyone wearing it. There was a period a few years ago where the hoodies were a big deal but that’s over. Honestly it’s LuLu lemon lol

Those brands are now hip again thanks to today's celebrities and collaboration with today's brands like Supreme

Yesterday it was at Walmart's rack, today it's Kylie Jenner's hoodie

We already have UAB Champion gear. Most of the long sleeves and sweatshirts at the UAB Bookstore are Champion.

I do think Dilfer can help out with merch problem. Hopefully he can talk with the people who are holding the licensing rights hostage.

The only thing new is the label, influencers are just the new celebrity

I don't know that there have been many people who were professional celebrity endorsers, though. There have been plenty of onetime actors who became professional celebrities - think of old school game show panels, forex. Nowadays, someone finds a way to build a follower pool and then parlays that into endorsements and doing whatever it takes to build that pool of followers larger.

I mean, what are the Kardassians famous for other than being "celebrities"? Kim's big ass, big boobs and sex tape built an empire for the whole family.

The Kardashians may be famous for being famous but they are hella shrewd and hardworking business people. What they have built didn’t happen by luck or accident.

I but I had no idea the closet full of Walmart stuff I have is now worth something lol

Champion is definitely something you grab for a trendy hoodie or sweater, but there's nothing that compares to Nike. I don't think y'all are realizing how impactful Nike is when it comes to recruiting. Nike runs the Elite Youth Basketball League, which is where every basketball prospect is filtered through, especially the ones we're going to need to work on getting if we're going to compete in the AAC. They're also involved with The Opening, which Dilf has experience with and knows how valuable it is from a recruiting perspective.
