I didn't make the trek over to Carbondale due to weather, but from watching the game on the + , it was a great crowd. It reminded me of a few games of the SEMO Murray games during Nutt's tenure and Cam Payne at MSU, when the SMC was sold out and rocking. Don't know which team in the OVC can create that kind of rivalry. Possible the two STL area teams will eventually bring some interest and intensity. Obviously consistent quality teams is a main factor.
Pretty ugly ending to last night's game however. Near fight after the buzzer between teams and then a Murray player or two went towards some fans in the crowd. Belmont so far has made a much smoother transition to the MVC. Murray isn't used to being a middling conference team.

The most logical team to be a rivalry game for us would be UT-Martin but they have a terrible fan base. Lindenwood would work if they can ever get a good following and winning team but the one I see that is close and has a good following and good team is S Indiana.

Lindenwood will easily become the biggest rival due to their St Louis location. They are going to be the same as UMSL was for many years, may take 4-5 years but it will happen.
