I wonder how the rise of streaming services in media deals will impact long-term the average age of CFB fans. I know I sound like a broken record about this, but I really do think that the Pac has the perfect opportunity to get ahead of this and really move the needle for themselves at the same time.

I've wondered if moving right along to streaming won't prove to be the way of the future much as the B1G's launch of a conference network—considered to be a novelty and a gamble at the time—proved to be.

Its not a novelty. It is inevitable. The question is whether early adopters crash and burn.

Was Grant Field really downsized? They took out the south end zone for offices but it's still largely the same it was in the 1940s. Leaving the SEC took most of greater Atlanta out of its fan base, much like Tulane and New Orleans.

RE: Demographics of Fandom
Interesting discussion, but it ignores the fact that most of us are neither righties nor lefties. Centrist independents comprise the largest block of voters, at 38% of the electorate. Democrats in the low 30s and Republicans in the high 20s, plus a sprinkling of fringe persuasions (about 5%) bring up the rear.

Some of us may lean toward being fiscally conservative but socially liberal. Others may be just the opposite. As always, painting with too broad a brush is a sure way to mess up fine detail.

What does all of this have to do with sports preferences? Probably nothing.

RE: Demographics of Fandom
Most Louisville fans live in Metro Louisville in one of the 13 counties that make up the metro area. 3 counties in Southern Indiana and 10 in the Commonwealth.

Louisville (located in Jefferson County) and Lexington (located in Fayette County) are the only significantly liberal areas of the state. Both are the Commonwealth’s largest urban areas.

Most liberals and conservatives in Louisville are UofL fans while most liberals in Lexington and conservatives in rural areas are Kentucky fans.

You’ll find exceptions like myself. I’m a conservative and live in a rural area but I’m red to the bone.

Having most of our fan base living so close to the city has been an advantage for Louisville. Week night games are no problem because most of our fans don’t have to travel hours to get to the game.

That took out 10-15,000 seats.
