Exclamation Who Remembers the 2019 Iowa State at Oklahoma Football Game?
I'm not much of a Big 12 football fan or a fan of either of the schools so I don't.

Turns out it was a pretty good game...

Obviously there is a reason people are talking about this seemingly random game from 2019...

I was at that game! A few years ago, johnintx and I actually exchanged a couple posts back and forth about it. johnintx was also there.

It was cold - and with Oklahoma up big - about 90% of the crowd left! Only for Iowa St to come within a hair of a miracle comeback.

Full disclosure - I didn't stay in the stands until the end either. I roamed the concourse the entire 4th quarter and checked out the team shop - which had a terrific Oklahoma football history book that I purchased.

I also discovered after the game that some men offer a "bike ferry" back to wherever you parked.

That was my only OU game and I look forward to returning another time.

Yes, I was indeed there. Our student section left at halftime, as usual. We were up 35-14. My wife was ready to leave. Something got spilled on her jacket, so she couldn't wear it without getting wet. I told her, my son, and his girlfriend that we'd leave after the next series if ISU didn't score. ISU scored, then they kept scoring. We stayed to the end. They should have won the game at the end. OU fans are cranky enough when we lose. Leaving the stadium that night, it felt like a loss. ISU won everywhere except on the scoreboard.

I had no clue we were watching two NFL QBs that night. We expected Jalen Hurts to be drafted high. I didn't expect anything from Brock Purdy. How things change.

Jalen Hurts was throwing TD passes to CeeDee Lamb. Breece Hall was playing RB for Iowa State. Brock Purdy threw 5 TD passes that night.

Glad you had a great time in Norman! Next time, go back in October. September is too hot, November is too cold...it's Oklahoma. And SEC games will be lit..even if we're not ready for that conference when we get in it.

I was also at that game. Oklahoma and Iowa State have one of the most lopsided series in all of sports, but the games since 2017 have been some humdingers

2017 ISU 38-31
2018 OU 37-27
2019 OU 42-41
2020 ISU 37-30
2020 (Big 12 Title) OU 27-21
2021 OU 28-21
2022 OU 27-13

ISU failed on a two point conversion in 2019 at the end of the game, and had last second drives snuffed out in OU territory in the Big 12 title game and in 2021. For a series that in 2016 I'd have been okay never playing again, I'm gonna miss it when its gone.

I've been to a handful of games in Norman as well, and its one of my favorite places to go. Hopefully there's future bowl matchups and maybe some OOC games scheduled in basketball

I'm pro-SEC move, but I will miss sharing a conference with Iowa State. I grew up watching the Big 8. I've never been anywhere close to Ames, but I've been watching the Cyclones most of my life. Great fan base.
