RE: What is your favorite conference?
I say WCC and Sun Belt. The WCC because I picked Gonzaga randomly to do well in the NCAA tournament when I was in middle school back during it's first run. The Sun Belt interested me mainly due to the NCAA football games. it was usually the first conference my team joined in a Dynasty mode using a crested school.

The SBC is such an awesome conference to be in.

SBC is fiercely competitive, great schools, great fans.
Happy to be home!

An enterprising conference, you bet. The Sun Belt commissioner has said his league puts a priority on setting up games fans of the schools will enjoy. His example was App State vs Coastal Carolina. One group enjoys getting away to the coast, another enjoys getting away to the mountains. Fans show up, enjoy the game, a Rivalry develops, and everyone has a good experience. Once you have that, he says, more people take notice and media talks step up. And on you go from there.

The Sun Belt has exactly the right order of horse and cart, I'd say.

Football: C-A-N-E-S vs. Everybody. So, to answer the question, none of 'em ... and especially not the ACC while we're stuck in it 03-wink

Basketball: Miami didn't have a basketball program in my younger days. The vast majority of folks in North Florida — other than diehard UF or FSU fans — didn't care (and still don't) about college hoops. But I grew to love the Big East back then and followed it closely. Still a fan of the BE (and like the A-10, too) as I've come to appreciate its uniqueness in the College Basketball landscape with the so-called "P6"

Related: College Football and College Basketball (in that order) are by far my favorite two sports. How about y'all?

Same here. I used to watch the NFL some, but now, I almost never watch it. As I have stated before, and much to Frank the Tank's chagrin, I don't watch the NBA at all!! The players & the owners killed it for me, but yet, the whole world (minus me) can't get enough of it. 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle

Maybe if you asked what is your favorite conference that your favorite team is not currently in and/or not officially planning to join in the future.

Otherwise isn't everybody going to vote for the conference your favorite team is in? Or is that the point of the poll? Maybe I am missing something.

The main reason why the poll question was written the way it was - was to provide an opportunity for fans to vote for their favorite "conferences" (plural). The idea being that some % of CBB fans has more than one favorite conference. So which of the various conferences is getting the most votes from fans of other conferences?

Another purpose was to get some kind of impression as to what % of CSNBBS readers are fans of P5, vis a vis non-P5 conferences.

---So far, 50 out of 125 votes have gone to the P5 conferences, suggesting that there may be more non-P5 fans than P5 fans visiting CSNBBS on a fairly regular basis.

I want to be clear that I did not vote for the SBC as my favorite conference. I voted for the ACC, but if I had to choose a second favorite conference, the SBC is very likeable.

I would like to see conferences sell more apparel. There's an untapped market for it from people who are avid fans of conferences.

Miami football was bad in the 1970s…so they weren’t spending their MBB savings on football.

Yeah, that's what seven (!) HFC's from 1970-79 will do for a program ... fortunately Howard Schnellenberger was Lucky No. 7.

The biggest obstacle — well besides SoFla being pretty much a dead zone for hoops until Pat Riley's arrival in the mid-90's — was lack of anything approaching a suitable facility.

The U and the ABA's Floridians actually played at the Miami Beach Convention Center (lol), which might've been fine for trade shows and political conventions, but basketball ... uh, no

The MVC and OVC for me, since those leagues are where my favorite schools play. I also enjoy the MWC and SOCON.

PAC and mw don’t have bbs forums. So don’t take this as a “scientific” poll. ;P

The poll will naturally reflect to some degree the membership of these forums. So the question is why there are not many PAC fans engaged here?

It would suggest they possibly have less of a following overall, at least at the conference level. Suspect attendance and media metrics would show the Southeast region has the largest college football fanbase. There is a reason the PAC is struggling as a conference, and it's not just due to poor management.

I still miss the old, and original, Conference USA. That might be my all-time "favorite" league — despite its no longer existing.

I see your point. Especially since the poll allows us to pick more than 1 conference, it’s even more telling that still no one likes the pac.

Edit: well, now the pac has 7 votes. So, nm.

It's The Missouri Valley Conference for me. Although this is a down year bid-wise, the Valley is playing some exciting ball this season.

Did you see the Murray State & Southern Illinois fight? That's going to be a fun rivalry going forward. Those schools already hated each other and now they're both in the same league.

Saw that game drew 6500 on a Tuesday night too. Looks like it might become one of the most heated mid-major rivalries.

I grew up an ACC fan and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Plus, I’ve always enjoyed watching the ACC tournament every year.
I also enjoy C-USA just because of WKU. They grew on me when I lived in that area for a few years. If they moved to the MAC, AAC or back to the Sunbelt, I’d start following whichever conference they ended up in.
