RE: What is your favorite conference?
As a Marshall fan, the past year has been so good for our sports teams because of our move from C-USA to the SBC.

No brainer...SEC. And I've got no inherent allegiance or bias toward it.

Football: C-A-N-E-S vs. Everybody. So, to answer the question, none of 'em ... and especially not the ACC while we're stuck in it 03-wink

Basketball: Miami didn't have a basketball program in my younger days. The vast majority of folks in North Florida — other than diehard UF or FSU fans — didn't care (and still don't) about college hoops. But I grew to love the Big East back then and followed it closely. Still a fan of the BE (and like the A-10, too) as I've come to appreciate its uniqueness in the College Basketball landscape with the so-called "P6"

Related: College Football and College Basketball (in that order) are by far my favorite two sports. How about y'all?

RE: What is your favorite conference?
The conference I follow the most is the SEC — due to my support of Vanderbilt and my living in Nashville. With the P5, I also follow somewhat the ACC and the Big Ten. Conversely, I don't follow as much (or have as much interest in) the Pac or the Big 12.

I don't have a "favorite" conference, per se. However, I strongly admire, and find interesting, the Big East due to various factors — including the "big city locales," the "Catholic component," the emphasis on basketball and the teaching focus (as opposed to research) of the BE members. I always check the Big East scores (in many sports, for that matter) and watch a decent bit of BE men's basketball action due to my cheering for DePaul.

A league that has earned my respect the past few years: the Sun Belt. Strong in football, baseball and soccer. Full props.

SBC footprint is almost the same as SEC footprint, we must be on to something!

Looks like SBC is running away with things with 13/66 votes so far. Among the P5, you have:

SEC 7
big 12: 7
ACC 7
B1G 5
Pac 0

0/66 for the Pac? Uh oh.

SBC is fiercely competitive, great schools, great fans.
Happy to be home!

RE: What is your favorite conference?
I root for the Big East, given my education at both MU and GU. Genuinely get excited for the success of any conference schools, given the "us against the world" vibes we collectively had in the early 2010s (and to the non-football schools before that). I love college sports, and sports business, in general, so it's great when stories are created from conference rivalries, success. I do miss the geographic component to conferences, but am a much greater fan of institutional peers and brands (a trend that I only feel will continue). I marvel at the financial gap being created by the B1G and SEC; it is quite incredible to see where we are heading (and the push from many leagues/institutions to attempt to keep pace).

I will say, I have grown to have a ton of respect for what the SBC has accomplished in recent years. They have created a nice geographically-friendly league that has many college towns focused on college football. Hope they only continue to grow in the coming years. I also like to see what the B12 is morphing into as well. Given a few other additions, they can be a really fun league moving forward.

RE: What is your favorite conference?
Why does this feels like a trick question?

Maybe if you asked what is your favorite conference that your favorite team is not currently in and/or not officially planning to join in the future.

Otherwise isn't everybody going to vote for the conference your favorite team is in? Or is that the point of the poll? Maybe I am missing something.

CUSA for two reasons. It's the conference that wouldn't die, to the chagrin of many on this board. Plus, it's the conference where my favorite school resides, for the time being.

If my school finds itself in the WACASUN one day, that will become my favorite conference.

Even after decades of the whole weird SEC fandom, I still don't really understand rooting for a conference as such. Obviously you want your team's conference to win OOC, because that's better for you.

But my "favorite" conference (because my team plays there) is also often my least favorite conference (because my team plays there and the decisions they make).

So? I don't know. It does seem like you'd probably get the extra same results if you just polled "in what conference does your favorite team play?"

I’ve always been confused by U Miami basketball. As a kid, the first pro basketball games I attended were at the Capital Center, rooting for the Bullets. In the mid 70s, they lost the NBA championship series in a sweep by the Rick Barry led Warriors. Barry was previously a star at Miami and the school no longer sponsored the sport. Miami football was bad in the 1970s…so they weren’t spending their MBB savings on football.

I must admit I have a lot of respect for the SBC. They took a lot of strong FCS schools and gave them a landing spot in the FBS. I think they have found a sweet spot where they are in no danger of having its members poached and their geography makes a lot of sense.

I went to a Patriot League and a Big Ten school, but I have to be honest, I simply cannot relate to the idea of having a favorite conference. I root for teams, players and stories...I legitimately can't identify with rooting for a *league*.

You might want to scrub posts like this when you do your B1G Commissioner interview.

113 votes now, Pac is in 12th place with 4 votes, just behind "not sure/other". I'm not trying to pick on them, but it does kinda feel like CSNBBS is a microcosm of nationwide Athletic trends right now.
