Sports Business Journal has an article based on reporting from the Oklahoman (Oklahoman article behind a paywall) regarding the release of the Big 12 football schedule. The schedule has not been released yet.

According to the report, the holdup is not with the schedule, but over the timing of the exit of OU and UT. Apparently, ESPN is pushing for a 2023 move to the SEC, while Fox wants OU and UT to stay as long as possible. The Big 12 source says that the haggling is over a 2024 exit, while there is "a smidgen of a chance the move could be immediate".

The SEC, on the other hand, has already released its 2023 schedule. I know they have 16-team schedules ready to go, but it's a bit much to change home dates for 14 schools at this late date.

The television networks are involved, and it "seems natural to assume ESPN wants" OU and UT moved into the SEC as early as possible, while Fox wants the schools to stay in the Big 12 as long as possible. The Big 12 source said that "most of the haggling is centered around leaving in summer 2024," but there is a "smidgen of a chance the move could be immediate" -- by this summer.
