You mean down? Down is up right? The lower the rating the better we are, correct?

Our fans always stirring up drama that isn’t there

Ironic that you will stir up drama to point out perceived drama. Only a couple of folks made definitive statements. The rest are saying that it's a bad look if it's true (e.g. not making definitive statements.)

I've been hard on ALo for his entire career here but he is having a much better season this year. On the one hand I admire Penny's loyalty to the young man, on the other hand I understand his real worth is on defense, not scoring and he is really just an average player. He has a place on the team and a role but i just don't think he should be getting starter minutes. In the two games he's been down Kennedy has really upped his game. He needs more PT to continue improving as we move into February. I just don't think he'll get that with a healthy ALo back on the floor. I love the kid, he has a huge heart and never quits but he doesn't need to be starting.

Lomax is definitely average on offense, but his defense is strong. He's tied with Davis and Williams as the best defender on the team at this point, and Davis has said on more than one occasion that he feels Lomax is one of the best defensive guards currently in the game. I imagine he would know something about this considering Lomax has guarded Davis in game situations on many occasions.

Kennedy has been averaging over 20 minutes a game, so I doubt any lack of playing time has been hurting development. As a role player, he averages 0.3 points a game more than Lomax, but his defensive rating lags far behind, almost half the effectiveness. I don't know that we would gain as much as we lose by having him start over Lomax, but I could absolutely see him making the team better by starting over Hardaway with Davis and Lomax rounding out the guards.

If Kennedy heats up and maintains a consistent outside shooting threat, it will help keep the opposing defense honest with the pressure on Davis. Lomax may not be a prolific shooter, but he's been putting up good numbers this year at 44.8%. If we can solve the weaknesses we have with our bigs, that will go a long way in helping to ensure our future this season, especially if Dandridge is able to return healthy.

Just now seeing the play where KD landed on the UC player’s foot and got called for a flop. For all of the things they review, they should have reviewed that and saved themselves embarrassment. The call actually should have been against Cincinnati as it was a dangerous play where he didn’t give Davis room to land.

“Final 4” crew needed to get their ish together.

I had missed that play while I was watching, and thought it was odd when the announcers said he had hurt his ankle in a play where he was called for a flop. And here I thought these refs were already awful without even seeing that play.

It was complete nonsense. Check it out. The video will start at the point where Davis takes the shot in question.

Davis Flop Call

I would have shared an embedded video here, but the board tags don't support doing so with a starting timestamp.

Just a bizarre call. I have no clue what the ref thought he saw. The replay was really obvious that Davis turned his ankle on the UC player’s foot. Anyway, I’m glad it’s a moot point (KD wasn’t severely injured and the officiating didn’t impact the final outcome).

I just thought it was especially ironic given all of the flop charge calls we’ve seen this year.

This is it. The fact that they did not review that call, tells you all you need to know about that crew. IIRC we've had them multiple times this year, and they have always made bogus calls that went against us.

Not long after that, Dejulius went straight at Franklin and Franklin got called. There was another similar play in the second half that was equally stupid.

How did that technical work out for Sampson yesterday, while he was "working" the refs? Those points he gave up could have won the game for Houston.

It’s funny because almost every game I remember where they talked about it’s a “final 4 crew” had some of the worst officiating on both sides.

At first, when things go bad you are wondering if you are seeing things because they are a Final Four crew. By the last 5 minutes of the first half, you know that they do suck.

Lack of transparency between officials and the NCAA is terribly frustrating. What is the post-game evaluation and review process for something so blatant as that flop call? Could have been a 5-point swing, and it added a foul to the best player on the court.

Does anyone know if Memphis has an appeal process, and what can come of it?

But they say the refs are told to look for a leg kick from the shooter, or a whiplash head fake from the shooter, as the tells for a shooter flop. KD did neither on those. So it should have warranted a review. At the very least.
