SBC softball is #6 ranked conference in RPI , after #5 ACC
CAA softball is #27 ranked conference.

We are going to have some big battles, Louisiana is #16 RPI
The good news is at large bids seem quite likely for SBC.

Wow…. I knew CAA was weak but darn. No doubt, awesome move to go SBC. If we play up to potential we can beat Lou 2 out of 3.

Why settle for 2 out of 3? Get out the brooms for a sweep! 04-cheers

To olddawg…rented bleachers are gone. Permanent seating capacity is in the 1500-1600 range…about 400 seats more than the JMU baseball park.
Nah....

Didn't see when you posted this. If you are asking about the cajun, the runner at first left early. If you are asking about the game ending challenge, the throw just beat her

We gotta recruit more pitchers with velocity.

Hopefully Fleet can hit in the high 60s and Berry can add some velocity as she gets older.

You will not beat top 25 teams without heat on the mound.

I'm sorry, asking about our first out at the beginning of the 8th inning. We fouled it, next thing we see, they're calling her out.

I wondered about that too. There were a few reminders today that I don't know all the specifics of softball lol

It was pretty damn cold once the rain started! I'm hoping the weather is better tomorrow, I'm planning to go and hoping not to sit in that again. We had a great crowd until the rain came so expect Saturday would be even better with good weather.

I believe our slapper stepped out of the box when swinging. Ump held out his arm. Curt Dudley was too busy reading the media guide to notice and comment.

Dudley generally does a good job, but honestly he was talking too much during this game. The game doesn’t require a non-stop running commentary. Sometimes less is more. Just my 2 cents.

You can find the ones that throw heat, but you have to find the ones that throw heat with movement. Straight heat at this level is not helpful. Most of those with heat and enough movement are being recruited so early by the Power 5 schools. You have to be so fortunate to find those players that have what you are looking for but are under the radar. JMU has already beat the odds and found 3 of these through the years. Odds are against it but you never know. Also, just because you get a recruit that had been recruited by a Power 5 does not mean they are going to be elite. These Power 5 schools recruit aces and they recruit second level pitchers as well to fill specific needs. Hopefully Fleet is an elite one they were wanting, but that will remain to be seen. At this point I will continue to watch and enjoy Duke Softball to watch good softball players work and play the game hard. Doubtful we will be seeing Super Regionals much less OKC for the foreseeable future. Heck, I would be estatic to see a Sunbelt championship in the next 5 or 6 years.

To clarify. Having someone with great speed and no movement would be great against the teams we are already beating, but won’t help much against the next level of teams and definitely not against the top level teams.

You are definitely right for an an ace starting pitcher, but I wonder how fast 70mph and straight would look to batters after seeing Berry or Alyssa for a few innings. I tend to think they would not catch up the if they only had one at bat vs. the reliever.

Lost 9-2 today. Berry got drilled for 8 runs in less than 2 innings. Humphrey came in and pitched pretty well the rest of the game. If there's a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a damn long tunnel.

Don’t get so down Dawg, there are better days ahead. Maybe sooner than you think.

Ehh Louisiana is a damn good team, we took them to extras yesterday and then Berry had a rough day today. Ends up that I wish Humphrey had started but anybody could have a good or bad day any time. Everyone should've expected this to be a very tough series.

I'm posting AFTER we won our 76th conference series in a row. Pretty awesome, huh? We are playing freshman and sophomores too. Our pitcher tomorrow, Karly Heath, is a senior and hasn't lost a game in her college career. Motivation?

Congratulations Cajuns. JMU wasn’t in it from the git-go today.

As has been said many times this season, JMU is young and in need of some better pitching.

Let’s hope the women regroup and come back to win tomorrow.

Go Dukes!

Went to the game today. We are young but not as young as LA. They will be a formidable opponent for quite sometime. Lots of Texas players on the roster. I didn't realize Landry was only a soph. She has one of the better change ups around. Great day for a SB/BB doubleheader.

We are experiencing a sad slow painful death of JMU softball. It’s a sport I follow and is frustrating to watch. Only answer is Fleet next year or the program is done with.
