With 10 full members the conference is safely above the 8 needed to be an fbs conference. If 2 football only are added, I would think they would have to both out of the footprint and considered notable additions. I can think of just a handful of schools that fit that description.

Probably, but..Now that the playoffs have expanded to 12 teams being in a G5 conference is even more appealing that being independent..At least 1 G5 will make the playoffs every year, whereas even an undefeated Army or UConn would never get one of the 6 at large bids.. If Army wanted to join, I doubt Judy would say no.. UConn might have to dangle some basketball treats..
Connecticut's move to the Big East was supposedly because of its budget deficit. Doesn't look like that is working exactly as planned.
Even if the excuse for the deficit increase from 2021 to 2022 is removed the deficit is still at $39.6 million, down from $47.2 million. Long way still to go to get a balanced budget.
