Lighten up.
Exactly
What if he had missed the shot and same information came out later. You would be on here chewing him a new ******* for disobeying penny.
Can't let the fact that he hit the shot change the fact that he took it upon himself to change the play.
As a coach, I teach all of my players to run specific offenses or set out of bounds plays. However, I also teach them that we can plan offenses and draw up plays all day, but we never know the residuals. Meaning, we don’t know what the defense is gonna do or how they’ll react. And my players always understand that any offense or set plays I design, the ultimate goal is to create open shots. Therefore, if after or during the running of our sets. If an unexpected open shot or cut to the basket presents itself, then ultimately the offense worked. Whether it came from a perfectly ran offense, or from player intuition. The ultimate goal in any set offense or play, is to create player/ball movement and to give individual players a better opportunity to utilize their talent and own player IQ.
When a coach makes players play like robots, and run every designed cut and make every assigned pass, often times you end up with tunnel vision and missed opportunities.
It’s much better to teach your team offensive sets. But to also teach them spacing and intuition. Very rarely do points come from an offense being ran perfectly. If coaches are honest, they’ll all say the same thing.
I think Penny is perfectly fine with what KD did today. It’s why he brought him on board.
But in this case, the player never attempted to run the designed play.
He went against what was drawn up and took a very low % contested shot that he happened to hit.
If he had missed you'd be calling for his head.
We will likely be in the same scenario several more times this year.
There's no guarantee that the play the coach draws up will work.
But it is even less likely that Davis could make that shot again.
If he hits them, good.
But if he goes off on his own and misses then the other players with start to wonder why they should follow the play if he doesn't.
At least it was based on the play they drew up and not just one on one ball. If Penny hadn’t called a TO, we likely lose that game b/c the refs wouldn’t have called a foul on the KD drive. Just be happy we won. Is that possible?

Some are just trolling to feel that surge of power over others.
Then there are those who genuinely need negative emotions/reactions to fuel themselves.
Both fear their own joy, though, and are unnerved by the joy of others. lol

Kao should have taken that shot, but that is no reason for everyone on the team to beat up KD. The way they were going off on him with so much anger, it wouldn't surprise me if he is out for the year. Is the injury report available?

Unrelated, but that's a particularly cool photo of Shasta as your avatar. That cloud formation, juxtaposed with the sunset, is great. Ironic that it looks almost like a giant UFO, when Shasta has so many UFO rumors and myths surrounding it.
I'm taking the liberty of posting the full-size version of it here.

Officiating, poor camera work and goofy commentating make our games hard to watch. I waited 2 days to say it. Can't stop thinking it. In the words of Charles Barkley, "It's tuurrrble!"
