I've been trying to tell everybody that Seton Hall is better than people are saying. Happy to read they won that game.

Unfortunately just one spot up. Was thinking we might have had a 2 or 3 spot move up. Better than nothing I suppose.

So Lunardi's latest bracket has us as one of the last four byes. Lunardi isn't necessarily so interesting, but there is an individual who runs game simulations against Lunardi's bracket predictions. Not an exact science, but still fun.

As things stand I feel pretty confident Memphis would beat Arkansas.

Jerry Palm updated his bracket today and has us all the way up to an 8 seed.

A higher seed would likely want a better option than playing a fully staffed Tiger team headed by Davis.

TCB, Tigers.

Tonight features one of the worst game of the year that will have 0 impact on any bracketology-

1-16 Delaware State (0-15 D1, 356 NET) at 3-17 South Carolina St (2-17 D1, 343 NET). There’s some SWAC matchups that are in this net range just as bad.

Duke & KU games about all that’s on TV. Good night to catch up on some DVR stuff

For metric purposes (e.g., NET), Tiger opponent AL St plays tonight. The effect is almost negligible, but offers something to track in passing.

Interesting that upcoming member FAU is putting together a nice season at 17-1. #24 in the polls and #12 in the NET - but Lunardi has them as a #10 seed.

Lunardi is an idiot, and always wrong, especially about non P5, up to the last minute, when everyone is right.

Checked the numbers. Joe is ranked 88th of brackets tracked by Bracket Matrix - yeah, not good.

http://www.bracketmatrix.com/rankings.html

Across 84 brackets in this year's lineup, we currently average as the first 10 seed, pushing to a 9. Several brackets currently have us as a 7 or 8.

And yet he is the gospel to elements of the media - including local outlets. It is a good example of the influence of brand names over substance.

Stammers is right. By Selection Sunday, usually only one or two teams are in question. The selection of the rest of the field could be made by an educated fan.

RE: Bracketology 1/13
Memphis swapped places with Michigan St and improved by one NET spot (to #39). Yesterday was a light schedule and neither Mich St or Memphis played. It is a good opportunity to determine the factors causing the small movement.

What happen?

The best I can tell:
1. Memphis opponent St. Louis (#89 before game) beat Davidson (#161 before game) by four at Davidson.

2. Mich St opponent Buffalo (#166 before game) lost to Kent State (#54 before game) by six at Kent St.

3. Mich St opponent Oakland (#256 before game) lost to Youngstown State (#119 before game) by four at Youngstown.

What are causes?
1. Opponents of Mich St and Memphis winning matters
2. Strength of opponent played by Mich St and Memphis matters
3. Location matters

What is the impact?
The causes matter, but impact is very little compared to a school's wins and losses.

I remember when they kept him (Lunardi) in a closet till the last minute. lol

He was such a dweeb back then. His hairpiece was often awry.

But he was the first to make bracketology a 'science'. lol That I remember anyway.

And he has Boise St beating both Duke and Xavier to come up with that.
