I don't live in the Toledo area but do any local companies/restaurants etc... have NIL deals with at least some of the better known athletes in football, basketball, even volleyball??

I live in Toledo and certainly connected to the local community, press, businesses (including sports bars, major restaurants as visit and support many) plus general news and information locally...perhaps there are some but to be honest I am not aware of any....

The one company had Koback, Page and Upchirch for commercials. Sammy M. had a taxi company deal.

Yep, and I think Anderson had a couple deals when he was around. Sammi still posts ads for that company on her social media. Friends of Rocky is doing a lot of events with many of the FB players appearing at different events around town. Presumably they are all getting paid for those. Wiard I believe has a deal with a clothing company, and Swedlund has one with some protein-bar company. No clue how much any of those are worth. Lockett should be the one getting the deals from the WBB team, but I am not aware as to whether she has any or not.

It was reported that, at least when the whole NIL deal started, the UT athlete with the most/biggest deals was VB player Olivia Vance, due to her very large social media following on TikTok and Instagram. Unfortunately it appears she has transferred to Temple for her 5th year.

Finn has a football card deal with Topps, which put out a college series this year, now that they can sign college players. I believe Finn is the only G5 player in the whole series.

RE: Official Rockets NIL Store
Always said the NIL would give student athletes financial opportunities they never had before BUT for UT Rockets those would be limited and not huge source of cash...but for any student any money is welcome.. across NCAA a number of players are making huge deals (especially those with social media followers-most notably cute attractive females) which again is fine...but overall NIL was not going to bring huge dollars to hundreds of student-athletes especially in local markets like Toledo where businesses have limited marketing budgets.and the likely return (higher sales) very limited for them. Again no problems or concerns from me over NIL and ability for student-athletes to profit..great for them... but from day one thought its impact was not going to be great as many said it would and # of students making huge $$$$$ was going to be far less than many speculated. Beyond "superstar" college athletes NIL has been far short of many peoples expectations.

Then why are we labeling/selling jerseys, hoodies, Tshirts and other items as navy blue?

Sorry but this ticks me off

Depends on what the athletic department has made their official colors vs. what the school has decided upon for theirs. I don't know if they are the same at Toledo.

As an example, when I graduated from Michigan, I was surprised to see the sash was closer to a Royal Blue (it is Azure Blue) and also a different yellow (maize) than what is used by the athletic department. Both the athletic dept. and communications department at Michigan uses a deeper blue and a brighter yellow for the team colors. The UM communications department defines the correct pallet numbers for all official communications on their website.

As for the school colors - this goes way back:

In accordance with the action of the Regents at their March (1912) meeting, establishing azure blue and maize as the official colors of the University, the Committee appointed at that time has been seeking to establish some standard for these colors. There is also a wide range within the color named Azure Blue which is likely how the athletic and communication departments were able to stay within the Azure color, but still use a deeper blue than what is used as the more commonly identified color for Azure Blue. It could be Toledo is doing the same thing - but I just don't know for sure. Midnight Blue is closer to what the Michigan athletic and communications departments use, with Midnight Blue being a deeper and darker blue RGB for Midnight Blue is (2,0,53) RGB for Azure Blue is (0,127,135)

For certain Toledo athletic department colors stay closer to the defined Midnight Blue pallet than UM does to the Azure Blue. In either case, keeping close to the defined colors used by either athletic department is what should be adhered to on a consistent basis.
