As much as I like Tyler and his parents, be is not a very good Point Guard. I think he just tries to hard and gets himself it trouble. If he were tler, he ould probably be a good #2 shooting guard. If he leaves I wish him the best !! Great young man.if he decides to stay, the work atd to be the best team mate you can be. S lot of young men and women have had scholarships here but very self played. What they took away was a great education from one of the best colleges in the United States, if not in the world.

I think a good indicator of where Tyler is at is looking on Instagram. Pretty much every member of the team has posted highlight clips and scenes from the locker room celebration after the UNCW victory. Tyler posted about Clemson beating Duke and a Ja Morant highlight.

Good grief. This board is really gonna eat our own even after a good conference upset road win? Give the Instagram stalk psychobabble a break and let a member of our team make his own life choices. Not trying to single out any 1 poster - but this has a tendency to get carried away

Go Tribe.

RE: MBB @ UNCW
I learned a lot about our team after watching the wonderful UNCW game on Saturday afternoon. First of all, I now know that we have a bunch of athletes who are capable of running a faster paced offense that does not have to totally rely on getting the ball to our post players and making 3 point shots in order to score points, and that we can navigate this faster offensive pace while not hurting our defense at all. I also discovered that we can handle defensive pressure without turning the ball over and make good decisions in transition when afforded the opportunity to get out and run. Finally, I discovered that this bunch is tough as nails and has very good depth that can be called on when game situations call for it.

Winning at Trask in front of a sellout crowd against a very good UNCW team in which we had 3 guys foul out, at least 4 others with 4 fouls, and lost our first man off the bench to a knee injury minutes after he came into the game, could not be pulled off by a team that does not have a nucleus of good ball players. And it is not like we went out and played a perfect game and got every break.

We looked every bit as good as UNCW on Saturday night, and I am going to store that feeling and memory in my brain to encourage me when things go south during parts of the remainder of our conference schedule.

GO TRIBE!!

All good points but wanted to zero in on this. Saturday was a great litmus test proving that we could (probably should) be playing at a higher tempo

Agreed.

Going deeper into the shot clock for this offense often means too much dribbling and increased turnover/blocked shot probabilities.

Transition points are a good thing when you score them and very bad when scored upon by the opposition. I'm not sure that CoC is the school upon which to test this hypothesis.

I'd love to watch the second half. I had something else going on and couldn't watch live. I assumed being on CBS would make it easy to re-watch later. I'd have been better off if it was on Flo.

I emailed CBS to ask about watching it now and they said basically "we don't do that".

There's no way anyone can call themselves the #1 sports site if games are not available to be watched on demand. I'm putting all this over in the FloSports thread so as not to derail this one, but posting this in case anyone else was trying to find a way to rewatch the game. As far as CBS is concerned it no longer exists.

I have it on tape as well but am afraid to watch it again for fear the outcome might change.

I've played and watched a lot of basketball in my life. I can't recall ever seeing so many fouls in a single game. Especially a game that ended in regulation.

I think I saw that we were 4 fouls short of the record for an individual team in a regulation game, but I can't find that specific record. NCAA has individual team fouls record at 50 from 1953, but I can't find stats for that game or whether it was OT.

RE: MBB @ UNCW
The "Modern" record looks to be 73 fouls called (102 free throws), during the Seton Hall - Niagara game, back in November 2013. Seton Hall 36 fouls , Niagara 37 fouls. That was the first season when the "point of emphasis" for referees was to clean up the "hand checking" - "charge/block", which had gotten really bad in college ball. The reaction, as in that game, was a real disruption of play, as almost every touch, or slight bump by the defender, was called a foul.

A total of six players fouled out of the game. Four of those six played for Niagara, with four Seton Hall players finishing the game with four personal fouls apiece

The All-Time record was set back on January 26, 1953, when Arizona and Northern Arizona engaged in a hack-fest, apparently, for the ages.

That game featured a combined 84 fouls and 130 free throw attempts.

The NCAA doesn't keep records for longest running time for a game, but the longest game in men's college basketball history took place on December 21, 1981, where Cincinnati defeated Bradley 75-73 in seven overtimes.

RE: MBB @ UNCW
Interesting tweet from the Seahawk Perch:

“Elon and William & Mary have packed the paint and dared UNCW to win over the top. Here's how the Hawks are shooting it (left) and where they're shooting it from (right).

54.2 percent of shots are 3PA over past two; 33.2 percent were 3PA in previous 14 games.”

https://mobile.twitter.com/TheSeahawkPer...1538758659

In WM’s victories opponents have attempted threes 43.5% of the time, hitting only 29.8% of them. I wondered if that was a conscious decision to try to force an opponent to shoot more threes or they just benefited from playing teams that like to let it fly from deep. CofC taking 45 threes should have been to WM’s advantage but not getting DRBs and turning the ball over as much as they did negated any perceived advantage. CofC’s FG% against WM was their fourth lowest of the season.
