The 20' - 21' season was a bonafide torture chamber at the end. We had a good enough team to make the tournament (in fact by far the best left out according to the metrics) but were missing that one signature win. While the Auburn win this year is a better win than we had in that year, I'm afraid we are still going to go down the same path in terms of needing to beat Houston just once.

Could we could we win every game but the two Houston games and still receive an at large? Probably, but the odds of winning everything but Houston is entirely too improbable. A win last night would have provided us a buffer that we really could have used. I know this isn’t the happiest post, but it just feels like we are just snake bitten as a program sometimes. Damn

I will give Penny credit that by March we are generally playing pretty good. Unfortunately, if we end up with a bad seed in the tournament, or in the NIT, it doesnt matter how good we are playing in March.

This year is much different. In both 2021 and 2022 we played lousy at the beginning of the year and our metrics were of a top 15 team the last half of the season. This year I think we are for better or worse getting closer to the max from our players.

I think that Franklin, McCadden and Kennedy are figuring it out and will continue to improve, but I doubt our ceiling is as high as it was the last two seasons. Our resume is probably going to look similar to how it has the last two seasons.

You're correct in that there are differences for sure, but from a macro point of view, this feels a whole lot like that the torturous song and dance from 2 years ago. We have some bad luck this year as well (Seton Hall shot/last night) that just adds salt to the wound.

I do feel like McCadden is a bright spot as of late with Kennedy contributing more as well. Kao seems to be becoming more of a force. Who knows, with Dandridge later on back maybe we can make something happen and slip in the tourney. But damn, wish we could have one season in which we could breeze into the tournament with hardly any stress. It's been about a decade since we have had a season like that. As a long time Tiger fan I feel like we are overdue one of those. Sheesh

We will. When ALo finally runs out of eligibility, Penny will recruit real guards and we will be a much better all around team. Especially in tournaments where guard play is huge.

Its the Martin-Davenport team all over again, only a little better results cause Penny not waiting until February to let his best player loose. Same talent level.

In my 40 years as a Tiger fan I've never seen anything like the bashing of one player as I have with Alo. It's unbelievable. What's crazy abt it is that it's mostly an ignorant stance. It's not even rooted in reality.

Agree completely, and it's not even an ignorant stance. It's a willfully stupid stance.

If we play down the stretch the way we played down the stretch the last 2 years, we won't be on the bubble - we will be firmly in.

If we had won that game last night, most of the fans on here would be talking 6 seed minimum after another huge Q1 resume boosting win. Losing that game in a 2 OT nail biter does not boot us out of the tournament. Our OOC this season put us in good shape going into conference play. That hasnt always been the case in recent years

I think everybody expected ALo to lead this program back to prominance as PG and to be honest, he has kind of disappointed most peoples expectations. So many Tiger fans emotionally invested in this program feel the need to blame somebody, and ALo catches it because nobody wants to blame Penny.

Pennys coaching decisions are highly questionable, espscially his starting lineups/substitution patterns. His teams rarely find a rhythm, make unforced errors and rarely develop an identity until it is too late in the season.

The reverse inbounds play, the slow down last night, the 3pt shot at end of regulation, the substitution patterns, all go back to coaching. I love Penny but he has a lot to learn yet, maybe he will get there, idk, but I know no one wants to point out the elephant in the room, so ALo catches the brunt of it. Jmo.

I think every Tiger fan is pulling for Penny, but any other coach in his position would be catching the heat of fans right now. Penny is getting a lot of grace and rightfully so, hopefully he figures it out soon. Not even going to bring up the transfers we have lost because of coaching decisions, still playing college basketball, who are better than anybody not named Davis on this team.

It is very frustrating to watch, could you imagine Minott on this team? O well, "dance with the one whut brung ya" is what Dana Kirk used to say! ALo had some big shoes to fill, and the kid has given his all. Things havent always gone the best on the court for him but such is life. He does a lot of things people don't realize including giving 110 percent on the court. Not sure it is fair to ask anyone to do anything more.

Hopefully ALo is ok, and he comes back and helps lead this team on a late charge this season. If not Penny is going to start catching ALos heat once the kid is gone. Hopefully things change and it doesnt come to that, it could get ugly.
