“Winning Time”
After the last media timeout, every possession matters that much more. Championship teams find ways to dig deep during winning time. FAU is not that much different from us from a talent perspective. But they know how to close out games.

RE: “Winning Time”
We’ve had, in the last possession or last 2-3 possessions of the fame:

FAU: Gaines bringing up the ball and throwing the ball to a ghost in the middle of the court

FIU: Gaines bringing up the ball, miscommunication between players, and Gaines throwing it into the arms of an opposing player leading to the game winning layup.

WKU: dribbling the ball and wasting clock, throwing a pass that is literally lost off of LA’s feet out of bounds, a jelly three from half court on a crucial possession early in the shot clock, and a jelly airball on the 2nd to last possession (I think).

This team invents new and creative ways to vomit all over itself in crunch time every game now.

WKU is a hard team to face as your bounce back game. They are probably, from a talent perspective, the team that rivals us the most. I feel like we didn’t play terrible, but our late game situational awareness has got to be better. I agree that logo 3 from Jelly was just plain stupid. That’s a shot you take if you’ve rattled out 3-4 shots in a row for a heat check. He played well overall though

RE: “Winning Time”
We were told over radio post game in Miami that major changes were coming. This wasn't the "Bartow Standard".

I didn't see any noticeable changes last night. Same starters, same mistakes, same effort or lack thereof....

missing those free throws, unforced errors and not defending the 3pt line at times can really mess up the winning plan.

AK is 2-8 in Games decided by three points or less, according to the former Memphis blazer.

Yeah that's what I thought as well. I thought they were friends and run in the same circles.
Unless EG now feels like Jelly is hogging all the spot light with his early accolades but still, do y'all wanna win or get a highlight reel on a LOSS.

This is the problem - Having 5 to 6 1000 pt scorers, and non are good at defense. You have to have the role and key players that do everything else well. We need the guy that doesnt score but plays hella defense is a stopper and rebounder. Seems we have just recruited scoring

I wonder if not having EG and Jelly in at the same time would fix some of the defensive issues.

Jelly and Lovan in one set and EG and LA in another. Also want to see the Brewer Brothers play together more. I know it was different competition but they worked really well together earlier in the season - they obviously have the chemistry we are looking for.

Here's to hoping Vasquez, Coleman and Satterfield know how to play some lockdown defense next year.

Maybe we need to fly in and pay Quan Jackson to teach a Defense 101 class for us.

Huge. We did everything right. Stops. Made threes. 6/6 from FT down the stretch. Andy calling the 13 defense down the stretch from the bench. Hoping we can look back and see this as the turning point from the pre-March Madness alumni party.

Definitely closed it out the right way. Good to see. Also AK made an adjustment by calling a timeout late to setup a play.

RE: “Winning Time”
It was nice to see this team show good composure down the stretch.

We did and we didn’t do that against UTEP. We basically had no composure and lost the game twice in regulation and OT, only to finally show it and pull out a miracle win.

Hopefully this game shows AK the team is more than 2 players. Play more people. Make more defensive changes. For the love of god try something different to slow down guards that are shredding us like clock work. Press more. Trap more. Zone more. Do something other than playing two guys 30+ minutes and leaving them on an island defensively.

The team looks better on offense when we run it through the post too. A little more of that and the team looks much better.

Still saw a lot yesterday that will make someone who enjoys clean, smart basketball pull their hair out.

But it was Good team win, and hopefully the turning point this team needed.

Good analysis. What I liked most was there wasn’t a panic. We caught a break or two to give us an opening, but then we charged through that opening and closed it the right way. That was very good to see.

And yes, please double team, foul, trap, whatever is necessary rather than letting bigger guards just back us down all day and then kick to a shooter.

They need to use trey more in Offense for sure. I saw him after the WKU game and he was gutted and very emotional about that loss.
