MBB @ NIU vs. CMU
We're only 1 point dogs!!!
CMU lost at EMU on Saturday.
A 'defining' game for NIU.
A win gives us hope.
A loss cements the season.

A must win.

7pm central on ESPN+

CMU 272 on NET rankings while Huskies at 308.

Biggest unknown in this game is Keshawn Williams status. Chips have some big bigs going 6'11" 6'10" and 6'11". Total average minutes for the three of them is 48 with 18pts and 12 rebs. None of the three are outstanding but as we have seen the Huskies tend to make them outstanding. Need Ibarguen (who has looked better of late) and Crump to hold them in check. The Chips 3pt shooters are Zarzuela 26 for 78 (.333) and Bass 26 for 87 (.299). Leading scorer is Kevin Miller, 18.5 ppg with shooting percentage of .519.

With Williams I feel we will win, but without him not too optimistic.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purposely do not look at the opposing teams stats so as I can maintain hope.
Did Akron have bigs? Just wondering how Ibarguen managed to foul out in 10 minutes with no rebounds or points! Crump can't handle bigs so he will be a low scorer. Decent bigs make Coit look silly driving to the basket inside shots.
So how did EMU beat CMU? EMU shot 13% (3-22) 3PT!!! Didn't know anyone was worse than NIU at 3pts!
CMU had 22 TO to EMU 12 TO.
EMU has Bates (the big) score 26 points. We do not have that.
Gonna be a tough game.

Yes! Akron has Freeman arguably the best big man in the MAC.

Reportedly bad news on KW. Out with ACL. Ouch. Feel bad for the team but worse for a great kid and awesome player. With his work ethic Hopefully he will be back strong as ever a la Koker.

Uggh---I asked this exact thing on the game thread the other day looking for an update. I had hunched ACL---but was looking for something other than what my old eyes looking a game on a computer saw.

Thanks (gulp) for the update---will be looking for him tonight.

Tough loss. This team may not win another game all season without him.

Wonder if he will think about transferring. A long time for him to think about it.

He likely was always going to transfer after he graduated. Kids want to play in march madness and that was not going to happen at NIU while Williams was here

I don’t know that he will be back strong as ever like Koker. It seems like women have this injury more often than men but they seem to come back from it easier then men. Maybe it just seems that way to me because the womens game is not played off the ground.

He’s as likely to be the new Dontel Highsmith than chelby Koker. I believe that injury derailed Monty’s team for a couple years and this definitely hurts Burnos chances of being successful here.

Awful.
Reminds me of Highsmith injury.

Don't know if anyone is following, but I just checked the score and the underdogs are up 27-18 with about 7 minutes left in the first half.

I turned it on right before Coit hit the 3 to cap the 10-0 run. Everything is looking pretty good.

Except for the, all too often...Crump wanders into an open spot and then Thornton threads a bullet that hits him in the chest and then bounces out of bounds.

Gotta love how the old Monty leftovers haven't lost that touch.

NIU Huskies who are out and/or injured:

Keshawn Williams
Yanic Konan Niederhäuser
Zion Russell
Xavier Amos

All 3 of those guys are starters (or starter caliber) and the other one is a potential starter.

Positive: turnovers are down.
Negative: Crump is giving free throw lessons to the rest of the team. Coit did not attend.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This kind of comment seems to be a good way to guarantee a win around these parts.

If that Thornton layup is not #1 in the ESPN Top 10...there's something wrong with the world.
