UTSA: Another Sign Traylor Is The Right Coach
UTSA is about to lose another coordinator/co-coordinator. Traylor will fill the position from within once again. Traylor has done a great job identifying and developing talent. Sort of Saban lite. Hopefully, UTSA can keep him for a few more years... starting with an increase in the salary pool and an IPF.

RE: UTSA: Another Sign Traylor Is The Right Coach
According to that article, we are expected to hire current TCU OL coach Jarrett Anderson to replace the departing OL coach Matt Mattox. Not sure how the hell we pulled that off. I'm assuming they will give him some OC duties (running game).

I was sure his brother Kurt was going to get internally promoted since that's been his MO. Maybe he doesn't want even the slightest appearance of nepotism. Even though none of us would've even looked at it that way.

With another 8/9+ win season, Traylor has to be gone right? Have p5 not tried to poach him yet?

~2.5 million

Respectable but not on par with what the on-field success has been.

He's likely waiting on the right opportunity to bounce but it will happen, always does.

And if the new Tx St coach has the same success as he did at UIW, then UTSA could be his new home.

He keeps things close to the vest so that’s why you don’t see alot of press about him. If Sonny moves in from TCU he will absolutely take that job.

Denial is part of the game when responding to questions about interview/offers from power conference schools. See UCF, UH and UC for examples. At some point a coach has to consider long term career advancement and financial security for his family. As a school, you hold out for 4 to 5 years from the coach before the move so that your program is in a much better shape to conduct a search for a new coach.

He very well may not be in it for the money, but I'm sure he would like a chance to win a national championship one day. That's going to be unlikely at UTSA, or any AAC school.

If the right job comes along, he will take it. I respect him for turning down more money to stay somewhere he's happy until a national championship caliber program comes calling.

I think if an AAC team could crack the top 4 in the current playoff format, they sure as hell fire will be able to do so in the playoff expansion upcoming.

Now will the talent he amasses be able to hang for four quarters and multiple rounds? That's the question, but I understand your point, in general.

RE: UTSA: Another Sign Traylor Is The Right Coach
I find it really really hard to believe he wouldn't leave for UT or A&M. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he did either.

Then again he's talked openly about wanting to make UTSA P5. Not the kind of talk you hear from coaches that aren't in it for the long haul. Turned down P5s already, as a HS coach also stayed true to Gilmer when bigger schools came calling...so it wouldn't absolutely shock me if he stayed long term. Also not naive to think that's a guarantee though. We'll see.
