RE: WBB Recruiting 2023+ Thread
Wasn't quite sure where to put this, but Barnes and Goss were with Cullop at the Coach's Show last night. Barnes indicated she intends to try to come back for another year next season (covid year). Sad that she can't get a redshirt given all her injuries have occurred in the 2nd halves of seasons after she played too many games. Best wishes to Soleil. Hope she can get back on the court and have a fully healthy year.

Goss also said right now she intends to come back for an extra season in 24-25. The way she has improved her offense this year, I'm anxious to see how she improves over 2 more seasons.

Holy Crap if this team made the final 4 of the WNIT a season ago. Imagine how good we will be in March and on to next season...

Every other team gets the same extra years for their players and some of the more experienced might be attractive to other programs. They may all stay and not improve relatively.

It's wait until the dust settles really and hope players staying an extra year does not affect recruiting or who decides to transfer for playing time. A lot of dynamics, what a tough time to coach this must be?

I rarely, if ever, have come across reported offers to International players before, but came across one today. Toledo has offered 2024 5'11 G/F Karoline Lundin from Denmark. She reports it is her 1st D1 offer. She's been on the Danish national youth teams for several years. In her stats from the '22 European U18 championships she averaged 13 points and 8 boards but her shooting stats were atrocious. (The Danish team finished 16 out of 18 teams, so maybe didn't have help.)

Here's a highlight tape from her play in Denmark which looks to show she's capable of hitting shots (of course they never miss in highlight reels.) Wonder what the connection was that led UT to offer her.

Rockets have finally extended an offer to the younger Dykstra. She's also picked up a CMU offer since the above post. Prep Girl Hoops has her as the #5 prospect in MI for 25.

Grand Rapids West Catholic (Cadence Dykstra's team) beat Fruitport HS last night 74-2. Yes, that was the score. I had to triple check. Dykstra scored 10 and her younger sister 13. Fruitport is not winless (surprisingly) but has lost their last 2 games by a combined 130-8. Yikes.

Anyway, GRWC is not 19-0 on the season and are ranked 3rd in the state in DII.

Cadence Dykstra named one of the 5 finalists for Michigan Miss Basketball 2023.

The other 4 are: Macy Brown (Michigan commit), Kennedy Blair (BGSU), Faith Carson (Ohio State), Mayla Ham (Georgetown). MAC did pretty good in recruiting Michigan this year.

Yes, Macey Fegan (Toledo) and Lexi Boyke (Central Michigan) are also top players out of Michigan.

first of all, whoever made the tape did a great job. it's a smart tape-organized, well edited, quick and sharp in spots and then with some long enough clips to show her anticipation. so, that might make her look better than she really is. not sure how much the tape got me, but I think she's a great kid to recruit. solid, strong, natural basketball player, good offensive skills, moves quickly with the ball, and is physical. there's a segment of defensive clips and half of em are Lundin snatching the ball away with 2 hands from people dribbling or holding it. she plays some bully ball but is also skilled which is a nice combo. can't jump over a phone book-we still have those-and, apparently, in europe girls are allowed 4 steps on driving layups.

Macey Fegan closed out her regular season career with 23 points (of the team's 42) to give her a career total of 2193. She also passed the 1000 rebound mark this season. The Standish-Sterling teams she was on went 71-18. Using the site Lester pointed out in another post, going to this link and clicking through should let you read the mlive article that is otherwise behind a paywall.

Macey Fegan’s homecourt farewell is fond and fitting for Standish-Sterling

Thanks for posting this, northcoast. Dykstra looks like a really solid all-around point guard. She doesn't shoot much from outside, so that might be an area that needs work. But her ball-handling, court awareness, drives to the basket, and defense all look great. The incoming class of Swedlund, Fegan, and Dykstra looks very strong.

Macey Fegan's Standish-Sterling team won their district title, with Fegan getting 28 points and 13 rebounds in the final. On to regionals.

Saw a new offer reported today to 2025 6'3 Emily VanTimmeren from Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Apparently she was at the game today, so hopefully that crowd made an impact. Has offers from CMU and BG.

Her older sister Ally was a 4star prospect with double-digit P5 offers who signed with Boston College. Her brother plays football and signed with CMU.

Very interesting tweet from Coach Stephens after the game:

So far, the only recruit I have confirmed at the game is the above-mentioned Emily VanTimmeren from MI. Interesting list. UT has never had a player from Africa before. I'm guessing none of the recruits have seen a WBB game with an atmosphere like that before. Let's see where it leads.

Swedlund and family were at the game. They sat in the South bleachers.

One more potential recruit at the game, 2025 G Chloe Kilbride from Perrysburg. Don't see an offer yet.
