Chandler out top

Deadre Kao J Lawsom across the middle

Davis down low running the baseline corner to corner

Penny has never played much zone. Playing this one a few mins per half offers the chance at a few things:

1. maybe limit DW's fouls
2. offers about a much length as possible without sitting both Alo and Davis
3. gets the 2 best 3 point shooters on the court (Davis, JLaw)
4. lets JLaw play without having to guard someone man to man

Maybe just a change of pace to slow down some of these teams who've been torching the scoreboard on us lately.

Yea I’ve been saying we need to go zone. We are getting killed on switches with the little guards.

If you're talking best three point shooters, statistically, both Kennedy and Hardaway are better than Davis. J. Lawson technically has the highest percentage, but he's attempted less than half compared to the aforementioned and is hovering in the same range as Dre.

As a limited experiment to test the waters in a game, sure, but in general I'm not as enthusiastic about the proposed lineup. Aside from that, I do like the idea of implementing a zone defense. At this point, we need to look into trying something new.

RE: 1-3-1
Penny doesn't like to play zone, never has to be honest even going back to high school. Maybe he goes to it but I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks with what he be doing. Constant switching, even on cutters in the half court and allowing guys to wiggle free for wide open uncontested looks or looks with 5'10 closing out at 6'4 which is basically a wide open look. Johnathan hasn't played but 7 mins maybe the last 2 games including none the last game, I doubt he all of a sudden goes to him to play zone.

I personally would not want Chandler at the top. I always loved when Pastner would run it with Will Barton at the top. Will was fast and long and could cause havoc with the guards, even grabbing steals.

Not sure on what personnel to play, but I agree we need to play multiple types of defenses during a game ... 1-3-1; 2-3; 3-2; Man; 2-1-2 Matchup ... etc ...

Would wear down Davis, and lead to foul trouble and bad offense from him.
And no one to help handling the ball on O.
Don't mind the concept, but not that lineup.

RE: 1-3-1
At this point I support just about anything to give different looks. But I think Penny has to accept his personnel is not going to be capable of the same level of defense we have seen the last few years. I've gotten to where I think they just need to focus on scoring 90+ ppg.

Same. The Lawsons are solid players, but it seems that all the brothers lack good mobility for their builds.

Well -I don't know how it could hurt Davis' FG %

Read the bold above. When players are exhausted, they tend not to shoot as well.

According to him, you don't get tired at that age. When he was that age he was a miracle human specimen who could run around the mud pit all day and never get tired. The kids are like robots, their lungs always filled with air, no sign of lactic acid. 04-drinky

RE: 1-3-1
the issue in the past two games has been a lack of energy.

Going to zone instead of an attacking man to man will just deplete what little energy the team has.
