Personally I disagree. The ESPN coverage was slow to react and really all about making up the ad revenue. A person of Scott Van Pelts stature as a SportsCenter host should know that cardiac incidents have been happening with athletes around the globe for some time now. Most notably in kickball....errrr soccer. This is a tremendous tragedy but ESPN producers did the on air staff a disservice by not getting information to the on air staff about the reality of these cardiac incidents. I usually do not bother watching sportsCenter anymore because of this empty approach to covering sports but I made an exception last night. Just kept repeating the same stuff. I really felt bad for Suzy Culver as she just had no information to give. My goodness call Stephania Bell the PT and get some medical input.

They will pick up this game on Sunday Night, probably where it left off. Pro Bowl will go the following week after SB or be canceled all together (skills competition or whatever).
Game last night will be scrubbed and the games this week will happen. Cannot move the playoff windows and the like.
Move the Bills and Bengals games for week 18 to Monday night to give them extra time
Agree. I think ESPN did a disservice in trying to make it more about what the league did wrong than covering how this was a tragic, unforeseen incident with little to no precedent. They also should have spent more time praising the medics, emergency personnel, etc. and brought on cardiologists, critical care specialists, etc. to discuss the condition and what might be happening at the hospital.
True. I learned more from a series of tweets by a cardiologist, who explained the success of a new cooling technique to control the patient's body temp, to prevent the brain overheating. Apparently, while VCU was among the first to employ this treatment, it was developed at a number of universities, including Univ. of Pittsburgh, where Hamlin played his college ball. The tweet series also mentioned other athletes who had experienced cardiac arrest during their contests and survived, including one who received CPR for 70 minutes!
That’s weird about the cooling stuff. It sounds like the most cutting edge centers are now moving away from hypothermia and are just maintaining euthermia as the evidence for cooling isn’t good.

RE: Pitt & current Buffalo Bills Demar Hamlin in critical condition after hit in MNF
Hamlin is brought out of sedation and is communicative!
For the NFL, they have now decided they will not complete the Bills-Bengals game and seeds/bye among affected teams will be determined by win% (reminder that ties count as 1/2 win, 1/2 tie). No 4th WC is on the table because the Bills are now unlikely to forfeit to the Patriots.
If the #1 seed/bye 'does' come down to the outcome of the incomplete Bills-Bengals game (as determined after the Week 18 games), the NFL is prepared to select a neutral site to hold the AFC Championship should both participants be among the affected teams. This will be voted on shortly by the owners.
ADDENDUM: with the game not being made up, the Bengals have clinched the AFC North. If the Ravens defeat the Bengals this week and are scheduled to play @ Cincinnati in the Wild Card Game (ie Chargers win too), a coin will be flipped to see if the game will instead be played in Baltimore. The NFL will vote on this shortly too.
