To coach the OL. Makes more sense to me. I think he was an OL coach…literally his whole career… before he came here…Hammock threw him in the TE spot because…I dunno. I got nothing.

TEs have severely underperformed in this offense. When coach E came here all the talk was about how well TEs played in his O.

JO is an O line coach and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back here in that capacity one day. I bet they’re looking for a TE coach who can get them going in the passing game.

You mean more than a former olineman who has only ever been an oline coach?

Would love to see TH reach out to one of the TE coaches at a school like NEB or WMU where they weren’t retained by the new staff and are looking for jobs.

I would settle for anyone who has done it before. As many have said Hammock has tons of connections…expecting a dynamite hire.

They both should be gone by now. There's no excuses for our defense to be embarrassing next year. Fire the whole defensive staff, or at least from the linebackers back. The line wasn't perfect, but not like the rest who were slow and couldn't cover.

The TE coach is like a utility coach on most college staffs. Like JO, often has OL background, is a less experienced staff member than most, or is an outstanding recruiter.

In January 2022 JK joined Butler as defensive coordinator and linebacker coach.

Of course. Or…Hammock shoe horned in a guy who didn’t really fit because he was the best coach Hammock could get.

We have to start finding some fits - more so on defense.

Correct, which means he should immediately available.

On the other hand, it's hard for the secondary to look good when the QB has all day to throw - and even when a defender gets into the pocket a simple sidestep by the QB gets him 4 more seconds to throw. The whole defense needs work.

He would fit well, but who knows if he would want to come back to Dekalb.

I don't know how the Asst. coaches contracts work. Derrick Jackson might be stuck here due to contract as we can't afford to fire him. For some reason I remember hearing most Asst. coaches were on 1-2 year deals only though?
