Would be a helluva risky hire for a coach struggling to win a fan base- if he turns out to be a good hire Ryan looks like a genius, if he is not a good line coach then Ryan looks like a Dumbazz. Who wants to stake their reputation on a first time offensive line coach? Then again he has had a few months to watch him in action (with a poor performing o-line)

Promotions from within are more favorably looked at after success & the predecessor leaves for a better opportunity…….then when the one being promoted was part of a process whose leader was let go due to failure to provide adequate results.

I am not an insider, unless there is evidence his contributions were extremely limited in the subordinate role, promoting to higher role seems risky to me as well.

RE: Candidates for Offensive Line Coach
Ryan was a former OL coach. And it seems he was pretty good at that when that was his top priority. Which is even more puzzling to the obvious slippage we've seen since he's been head coach.

Could there possibly been some under-mining going on with Bridge-Silverfield? Not intentional, but maybe Ryan would pop over to the OL room and insert his philosophies strongly - and maybe they didn't always align with the daily instruction from Bridge?
Or maybe Bridge was kept around as a yes-man and Ryan tried to run things, but was ineffective?
Or maybe Ryan just decided to change blocking packages up entirely from the Norvell days, and it just hasn't worked?

I dunno. Bert might could share some insight.

Anyone consider bringing Leary back into the fold? He retired in 2020 due to injuries but knew how to play in OL in the NFL.

RE: Candidates for Offensive Line Coach
I saw where Rivals.com's Bryan Moss put out an article on coaching rumors but I don't have a subscription. Wonder if he mentioned rumors, other than Diehl, for OL Coach?
