Overall Record: 10-4
Conference Record: 8-1 (only loss to Fresno St in CCG)
Non-Conference Record: 2-3
> Wins: Tennessee - Martin, North Texas (Bowl Game)
> Losses: Oregon St (Good), BYU (Average), UTEP (Bad)

So we can run the table in the MWC but struggle OOC?

With that OOC schedule, we were poised to get the NY6 G5 spot.

Boise State fired the OC and benched their starter after losing to UTEP. Fresno played and lost to UConn after losing Haener and Evan Williams in the USC game. Both of these results will kill your rankings and compares in the computer polls.

San Diego State
Fired the OC/QB Coach and benched starting QB after losing to Boise State...
Potential future starting QB entered transfer portal...
Other QBs on SDSU roster were underclassmen and not ready...
Installed QB that converted from Safety but was previously converted from QB...
Former starting QB converted to WR...
Reinstated former/previous OC...
Hired new QB Coach who was a former SDSU QB & school’s all-time passing leader...

I believe that there was a lot of firing of OCs...benching of starting QBs...QBs entering the transfer portal...and QBs changing positions going in the MWC this year...that's why the MWC had a down year this year...

Yes, SDSU is in disarray and almost panic mode now. Beautiful brand new stadium and nobody showing up to the games within a city with such a big population and no NFL other than hangerons to charger football, maybe.

Also seemed to me the transfer portal has been a net positive for Fresno State. Not sure about other teams. Seemed like sjsu was net positive with last year’s transfer portal shuffle, but their team regressed as a whole instead of getting better, it seemed to me anyway.

Fresno’s got the best location…CENTRAL…in California. Has great HS recruits in Fresno and surrounding counties. Perfect location for Bay Area and socal recruits to be close enough to home but not too close (which kids that age like).

Yes, this is turning into a post about Fresno to a P5.

Pac12 will regret picking sdsu over Fresno. And I hope the Big12 laughs at pac12’s moves and counters with Fresno and Boise.

Even if 4C or 3C do come into Big12 later, still would be enough room since the Big12 is in position to be SUPER CONFERENCE #3. Fresno and Boise would add to Big12’s already strong base and recent additions.

Cmon PAC! Be the prideful dumb chits I know you are and take sdsu and SMU! Then I would begin to pray harder that Big12 considers Fresno/Boise.

Sure, I’d love MW to stay together and grow together, instead. And they would grow in power if they stayed together. But once 1 of the top football teams leave MW, it will be very hard to want to stay for the other two football powers.

As a conference (and including bowl games) they went 3-16 against P5 (wins against 6-7 Baylor, 7-6 Washington State, and 1-11 Colorado). They went 11-13 against G5. And 9-3 against FCS.

The AAC is also 3-16 vs the P5 (through bowls, including Notre Dame), but did much better vs the G5 than did the MW.

This tells me the AAC isn't really P6, just G1.

This year that may be the case. But thats been the case in most years.

Also, had the PAC had to play the AAC OOC instead of the MWC in most years, they would have probably been P6 and the AAC P5.

There's an enormous difference between playing PAC teams OOC and the SEC teams OOC.

SDSU would be dumb to choose the PAC over the Big 12. But the saying Pride goeth before the fall applies to both SDSU and the PAC. Once Oregon and Washington leave for the Big, I think Stanford goes WCC. Even AZ and Colorado leaving could trigger Stanford leaving. But SDSU will go PAC because they want to prove they are a peer school to the UC’s (which they still aren’t). Just like the PAC they will decide based on Academic Pride and not what makes the most sense for the health of the athletic conference.

Panic mode? No. We averaged about 29K, stadium seats 32K with an additional SRO of 3K. Turnstyle was about 22K for what was a mediocre year for the team. We had no offense early in the year. Ditched our OC and moved Jalen Mayden back to QB position and saw some improvement. We are looking at pricing changes as fans have complained about the cost of attending.

The PAC will likely stick together through 2030. Overall it is a better fit culturally and geographically to move to the PAC, and we typically schedule a couple PAC teams in football each year. I'm sure if FSU were to get an invite they would choose the PAC over the B12.

Kliavkoff is probably the only one with any clout possibly even mentioning Fresno State. And if he did, I’m sure most presidents in the Pac12 would laugh. All while they already have 3 non-AAU members. Not sure where the line is for Pac12 presidents as far as what careers and jobs are important enough to society. To me, they are fake leftists if they look down upon fellow taxpayer funded institutions who would be a positive athletically - on field performance, recruiting grounds, tv dma, etc.

Pac12 = as big or bigger hypocrites than any republican. *Which makes sense since higher education has become a money grab for the well connected and the two party system is merely two sides of the same money/power grabbing coin.

Panic mode?

Yes, Cal and Stanford will have to hold their noses to add SDSU. A second CSU school at this point of time is unlikely. SDSU has been fortunate that UCSD has been a willing partner in awarding PhDs through SDSU. We are within a couple of years of reaching R1 status. Our campus expansion surrounding the new stadium is geared to increasing our research capabilities with private/public partnerships. UCSD has also expressed an interest in our Innovation District.

We have been working for decades to get the state to allow CSUs to award PhDs independently. Just recently, California passed a law allowing CSUs to award P{hDs in public health.

> Wins: Tennessee - Martin, North Texas (Bowl Game)

No they wouldn’t. They would choose the Big 12 in a heartbeat especially if it come with a western wing of schools.

It’s not like you have been working alone. Fresno has also been working to get the ability to provide PhD’s in applied fields. The main difference is you have working partners in UCSD and UCI while UC Davis has been openly hostile. They don’t do joint doctoral degrees with Sac State or Fresno State.

Fresno’s problem is it is a CSU and it’s in the Valley. As far as the Bay Area crowd is concerned the Valley is a mini flyover country. It’s filled with working class Republicans. Silicon Valley and LA/Orange county residents drive down I-5 as fast as possible and I-5 does it’s best to avoid any valley towns. Just the position of I-5 screams flyover country.

The problem for the PAC is those working class Republicans make up the bulk of your passionate fan base. It’s why the Big 12 has better attendance and viewership numbers. Fresno would be good for the PAC as it would represent that crowd but the PAC liberal elites led by Stanford and Cal will never “associate” with fly over country. Fresno clearly culturally is a better fit for the Big-12.

More baccalaureate programs coming to California Community Colleges

Another requirement/restriction would probably be as long as the CSU Doctorates Degrees doesn't compete with what the CU Doctorates offer...there always has to be a catch to keep the UCs above the CSUs academically...

More baccalaureate programs coming to California Community Colleges

Another requirement/restriction would probably be as long as the CSU Doctorates Degrees doesn't compete with what the CU Doctorates offer...there always has to be a catch to keep the UCs above the CSUs academically...

That catch would be the CSU’s could only offer doctoral degrees in the applied sciences but not the pure sciences. I don’t think it will happen in the next 25 years however.

100% of polls say the AAC is better than the MWC.
98% of polls say the SBC is better than the MWC.
23% of polls say C-USA is better than the MWC.
1% of polls say the MAC is better than the MWC.

When does Masseys update? This information was from 12.3.
I expect some of the new rankings to be online the morning of January 10, after the NCG the night before. But not all of the post-Bowl rankings will be posted immediately. I would give it about a week for all 100-120 rankings to be tabulated.
Well, it’s been 2 weeks since the UGa/TCU game, and there are still only 73 rankings listed on Massey’s post-bowls update.

Strange that so many have not made updated rankings. But if they haven’t done it now, I guess they probably won’t do it at all.
