Adter a hiatus of 9 years the Dukes fabe off against the ODU Monarchs for the first time since 2013 when ODU left the CAA for CUSA. A long time rivalry in the CAA when ODU was a WBB power. Think they won the CAA something like 18 or 19 straight years in the mid/late 90's to early 2010's. I recall when they finally lost in the CAA Championship when yjey were beaten by Drexel at the Convo in 2011 or so. Not sure of the year. While ODU has a big advantage in the series the Dukes won 8 of the last 10 matchups. ODU then stopped scheduling JMU and I remember Coach Brooks saying he tried to keep the series going after ODU went to CUSA but they refused to schedule, got tired of being beaten I guess!!

In any case this is one of the great benefits of being in the SBC with ODU as the Dukes get to renew a long time legitimate rivalry. Particularly with an in state foe. Really looking forward to the game tomorrow and hope we have a nice turn out of fans to ROOT the Dukes to a win.

The Dukes are coming of a nice win over Coastal on Thursday for their first SBC Conference win, Lets make it 2!!

After Wendy retired (or was fired…depends on whose story you want to believe), and KB started to restore the JMU women’s recruiting and on-court success, ODU did run away and hide from scheduling JMU during the height of KB’s tenure. I understand why (nobody likes losing), but it was disappointing, and a bit irritating given the condescending attitude of some ODU fans.

The renewal of the rivalry is a good thing. Looking forward to the game, and hope the JMU women will bring their A game.

Dukes by 90 million.

We all know ODUh has a long, storied WBB history, and they had some down years. Can any of you give us an update on their program? I am too lazy to look it up and figure some of you have more info on their personnel and season. As a new rival I sort of care, not because I care about them though…. ODU=

That ODU team looked real bad compared to their teams under Wendy Larry.

14 assists and they were all to the same couple of players apparently…thank goodness for Kozlova.

No update needed. ODU stinks. Their WBB team is something like 9-2 or 10-2 against the Dukes over the last 12 games.

What is interesting ODU WBB was picked #2 preseason in the SBC, and JMU was picked to finish 6th. Obviously there wasn’t much respect shown JMU by preseason “guesstimators”

Great game - JMU ran into some issues in the second quarter but managed to correct them in the halftime locker room and smoked ODU during the second half.

2-0 to start conference play!!!!!!

Not that I likely could have found a place to bet this- but us finishing better than 6th was a money in the bank bet. I haven’t been thrilled with our performance the previous 2 seasons, but we do have a solid coach and above average players. The SBC is not all that, to have picked us 6th.

Apparently the REAL referees all had the day off to attend bowl games. Who were these 3 blind mice anyway? I have never seen such ridiculous fouls called in my life as some of the ones called today. Incidentally, I recently learned from an ex-DI &II ref that refs are mostly not attached to conferences per se, but go where the money is best. These guys must have come from high school ranks or something, especially the bald-headed paleface that looked like a goomba. They all need to see their optometrists and re-read the rulebook!

I thought the woman was by far the worst. She seemed like one of those refs that wants to make it a big show featuring them.

Can we agree they were all awful, are not real refs, and we don't want to see them again?
