RE: WBB vs. WKU
The turnover differential (10-3) is keeping WKU in this game. Also, Fisher has sat since she picked up her 2nd personal at the 6 minute mark of the 1Q.

39-36 @ 1:21

A joke that it’s even being looked at. And it is called intentional.

Austin at the buzzer to give Rice a 43-42 lead at the half. Embarrassing. I wrote at the top that WKU has talent. I guess we were the team they needed to play to unlock it. Hopefully Edmonds lays into the team in the locker room.

43-42 at half. Again, some of our other starters have to step offensively and look for their shot. Austin has been the only one willing to shoot the ball.

I just don't understand how Crosthwait comes out of the gate on fire, hitting all 3 of her shots in the first several minutes, and then doesn't take another shot the rest of the half.

And she comes out and hits the first bucket in the 2nd half.

54-44 Rice. Just 2 WKU points in 5+ minutes. Some missed open looks, but largely better as a whole. Need to finish the job, though. Pull away and go up 20 instead of letting them hang around.

lol Clifton sure is not hesitant to shoot. She's taken 7 shots in 7 minutes of action (4-7, 2-3 from deep). Only Austin (9) and Crostwait (8) have taken more shots and they've each played 21 minutes.

Unbelievable. We're doing it again. Go up 10 and then lose the ability to score the ball. Wide open misses left and right. Every opportunity in the 3rd to kill the game off and we haven't taken it.

Refs are having to check the videos a lot this game. Austin and Foster (WKU) both given a technical for talking.

Did the power go out?
Or are we all freaked by the expired security certificate at csnbbs.com?

RE: WBB vs. WKU
Bad, bad performance. Edmonds was blunt with her assessment postgame. Defense was perplexingly bad against a team that struggles to score. Hard to count the number of breakdowns we had, especially in the 4th. Couldn't handle the most simple of actions and are probably lucky WKU only scored 79. Thankfully, I don't think it's the end of the world. If anything, the last two games might even be helpful down the road. We needed to be knocked down a peg after the undefeated start. Realistically, our record did not reflect our play. We have stretches where we look competitive and stretches where we look like a bottom dweller. Until we become more consistent, we'll remain able to beat any team in the conference and lose to any team in the conference.

Not worth going into individual performances because our defensive effort colors any grades. Good to see Clifton get some minutes post-injury is all I have.

Tapatalk wouldn’t let me in and I was offline until quite a while past the end of the game.

Followed this one on espn gametracker and I was pretty confident we’d pull it out… until we didn’t.

Tough home loss but as mentioned above it is not the end of the world. We can still win regular season and tourney titles but also as mentioned above we’ll need to step (back) up a level to do so.

Go Owls

RE: WBB vs. WKU
We have some issues that we can fix (our tendency to commit silly fouls and get our starters in foul trouble for example). I think also Gooden is either nursing a small injury or was under the weather last night - she didn't play much in the 2nd half at all. Clifton showed some nice moments, but I think she might be shooting a bit too much.

We're not as good as we thought we were after that 9-0 non-conference record. It was a good NC schedule, but most of those teams we played were not great. As I predicted earlier in the year, Texas A&M lost its first conference game (at #1 South Carolina) by 42 points (76-34). And that was only because South Carolina took it easy on them.

WKU had a whopping 15 steals against us. And were 6-6 from deep in the 4Q until they finally missed in the closing minute.

Edmonds needs to press more too. We have players with no minutes who could at least be used in a press sometimes.
