Tonight marks the first game of our last AAC conference campaign in Men's Basketball, when the Tulane Green Wave visits the Great University of Cincinnati.

UC fans need a game of some sort. Feels like a long time since we've had anything new to actually talk about.

I think this is a really well-coached team starting to figure things out. They have real personnel deficiencies on defense (and lost their 2 best defenders to injury), but are in the top 1/2 to top 1/3 nationally in each of the defensive 4 factors (EFG%, Turnover%, Reb%, FTA/FGA).

To me, that is a sign of Wes coaching them well and putting them in a position to succeed. They haven't been elite or great at anything on defense (they are between 128 and 152 in all those stats), but have become reasonably solid across the board (hopefully numbers will keep trending up).

On offense, they take exceptional care of the basketball (12th nationally). Turnovers are very rare. They mostly get good shots and do a pretty good job on the offensive glass. The only true offensive weakness has been an inability to get to the free-throw line.

Tonight is a huge game. Tulane should be a top 3-5 team in the conference. UC must protect home court if they are going to have the kind of season they are capable of. Kenpom has UC as the 4th best team in the conference. UC needs to finish top 4 (ideally 2 or 3).

UC does a lot well. An awful first 10 minutes cost them the Xavier game. An atrocious second half cost them the NKU game. They aren't far from being a really good team. It's time to take the next step.

The 2100hrs tip-off is keeping me from attending.

The last game of the year, huh? The calendar is about to turn, and for some that means it's time to look back and for others it's time to look forward. But I don't believe in that. I like to be in the present, and what we have in the present is Tulane and a big basketball game. Tulane, I wouldn't want your future because what your present is about to involve is a painful beating that will linger for days, even into the new year. The year of the Bearcats. I like that.

Started 2022 with Tulane at home and we're finishing 2022 with Tulane at home.

Let's hope another 47-21 first half deficit is not in the cards for tonight.

I agree with Mark. I think they've turned the corner somewhat. I expect a 15ish point victory. If it doesn't happen, I will be here to complain incessantly
