After about a week off after winning the Hawk Classic in Philly the Dukes return to the AUBC for their first Sun Belt Conference game against the Chanticleers. Tip off is 3:00 PM. Hope to see a nice crowd at the game. Wife, younger daughter, her husband and myself will be there ROOTIN!!

Anyone know why this is a 3 pm game? I know Harrisonburg is pretty deserted with school out and the holidays, but I would have thought our first Sun Belt conference game would be worthy of a 7 pm tip.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow. The real season starts on Thursday!!

feel like games during breaks/holidays are generally earlier... for better or worse.

probably draws more locals/families at that time slot.

JMU clearly looks like the better team. Not even close right now.

By the way, King-Hawea is out today. I believe they said she rolled her ankle in practice yesterday but hoping to be back for the ODU game.

Really solid game all around. Kiki 2 assists shy of a triple double:
20 pts, 10 rebounds, 8 assists.

Very nice start to conference play for the ladies. Jefferson, Hazell, Germond and Kozlova all scored in double figures. Most of the time the team looked loose and like they were having fun and that translated to moving the ball well and a lot of good communication on the floor. Neff had five monster blocks.

Two observations: the Coastal head coach is a major whine-baby and SunBelt officials are not much better than CAA officials.

Next up is ODU on Saturday at 2. I hope to see a good crowd there.

It was a good win, but the game was tougher than expected. The final margin was a bit misleading. The rebounding margin was also closer than it should have been considering JMU was the much taller team. CC boasts only 2 players over 6’…with the tallest at 6’2”

Thank goodness the Dukes shot their free throws well. This is the kind of game JMU might have lost in the past had it shot 50-60% from the FT line.

The SBC has not been better than the CAA in hoops, historically. Let’s change that.

Who remembers when ODU was a major power in women’s basketball?

What was your problem with the refs? There were a total of 30 fouls called, which to me was about enough. You want more????
