Makes our W against UCF look not as good. Gus can't coach.

Well, there aren't any North Carolina teams in the Big12, so UCF should be happy about that

Thankfully that’s the end of the lame duck season.

Better hope that is all it was. UCF didn't look like UCF this season.

As always, the Military Bowl was a blast.

Even moreso because I got to see CF get dunked, lol.

That question has now been answered.

If true, that explains a lot.

Bump.

The Central Florida offense and the Gus bus failed to show up today against a mighty Duke Football team.

Watching the game, it never seemed to me that Duke was really better than UCF. Seemed like UCF could have taken control and won.

But they just kind of aimlessly muddled their way through the game, without much intelligence.

Maybe you can't make a Florida Citronaut show up in 45 degree weather?

Come on, man. Were you talking this "lame duck" nonsense before Tulane thumped y'all in the CCG?

Fact is, like my Coogs, UCF underachieved this season. Own it.

Oof. I was actually watching and pulling for the Knights, but dayum, that was U-G-L-Y. Losing 3 starters to the portal + coordinators is no excuse for that mess. There's another 100+ folks in the program who have been there all season, including the head coach.

That was like an "I want to be anywhere but here" effort. Duke is decent, but not all that. Have a little pride on the way out the door.

OTOH, at least you found the door, lol.

Lame Duck is a "Lame" excuse and I agree, but based on their 10 year avg. 2013-2022 they actually are ahead this year with 9 wins.

Wins avg. in the AAC (including Bowl games)

UCF-8.6
UC-8.6
UM-8.2
Uh-8.0

Memphis still leads since 2014 when the conference had full membership (by one game).

I'm not happy about backing into the Big XII in football, but it is what it is. See if we can pick up any other potentially good recruits that may still be out there and go into the spring determined to take a step forward next season.

I don't know if the departing players like O'Keefe, Jean-Baptiste, and the other key players in the portal would've assured us of beating Duke, but we certainly would've had a better shot of winning. I think players who quit playing early ought to have part of their scholarship funding taken back. I'm not entirely blaming the players for this, but this is b.s. having so many bail on the team like that.

Yeah, after loosing to this year's Navy team, they figure that they might as well pack it in for good.

Yes, everyone there had been there all season, but moving a few players into roles they haven't had much or any experience in does have an impact. Hey, give Duke credit, they took advantage of our weaknesses. And there's no guarantee we would've won even with all the transferring players there; I think we all understand that. It just sucks when key people who helped get us into this bowl and helped put us in to the conference championship game start to disappear and are already looking ahead to transferring before the season is over. This isn't just a UCF problem, in my view; I think it's become much more challenging for any program to finish a season without distractions about multiple people talking about going elsewhere even for the teams that win their bowl games.

I also want to comment about the "lame duck" part of this conversation. That phrase to me suggests that our team wasn't trying its hardest to win. Am I misinterpreting that? I think the team made the effort; just for a variety of reasons, we didn't accomplish all the goals we hoped for in our final American season. No one UCF fan can speak for the views of every single individual associated with the program, but I doubt there were many, if any, going into this season thinking that this season wasn't important and that next season in the Big XII is all that matters. To me, that's a ridiculous point of view.
