RE: Drake Maye Offered $5 Million To Transfer—One Problem…
It will be interesting to see how much these ball players actually get to keep in their own pockets. I've got the feeling that a bunch of people, from the "trusted" classmate running errands to the sketchy financial advisor, with a lot of others in between will be skimming a lot off the top.

Not the NCAA’s fault but the conference’s and their media partners. If no school was making obscene amounts of money on the backs of “free” labor, the players wouldn’t have went to court for a piece of the pie.
Personally I like seeing the players get paid for their contribution to the business.

What people are advocating is holding players to commitments that their student peers are not held to. Imagine if UNC said that students could not transfer to another school to study, or that they had to take a year off of school if they did. Both are building skills for their future employment, so why is there a different standard! People need to grow up.
Contracts and regulations are part of said American market. Silly to compare athletes to other students when they have inducements and empairments traditional students do not have, and it is silly to think they should have one and not the other.

Drake Maye Offered $5 Million To Transfer—One Problem…
Mayes Dad paid my FIL 4k a month to rent his house in the Myers Park school district. Never furnished more than 1 room in the house. The kid gets anything he wants so doesn't surprise me if he did turn the money down.

I think it is safe to assume that the Heels4life NIL will be paying him about the same money as other schools were dangling out there.

Technically correct, but do you really think that in 4 months he suddenly went from a kid to a mature adult? He's still got about 6 years before the old prefrontal cortex fully develops.
What I know is that outside of the NFL, every single professional league in the world offers major contracts to 20 year olds, from European soccer to the NBA, MLB to the NHL, Eurobasket to Tennis, etc. Maye is probably one of the best equipped to handle that pressure compared to other college football players, because he a) comes from money and b) has already been a productive P5 starter, so he would have access to actually qualified representation...something most of his peers lack.
It's moot, because again, nobody actually offered him five million dollars. But I don't think we ought to pretend that doing so would ruin him, when we allow that system to operate in basically every other sport anybody cares about.

Probably. But, I do appreciate the additional 6 figures put onto my wife's inheritance.

So where did the family really live? Did Mom and Dad do this for all the boys?
