I think this team is more coachable than last years. Guys seem to be hungry and I think this, along with the staff changes, has re-energized Jones. I think last years team was not coachable and it showed in Jones' body language. Just my opinion but I think some players and coaches last year had checked out of the program. I think the recruiting efforts have greatly improved with the new staff.
Last season Jones frequently did the 2 hand wave at the guys play. Like, I'm done with you. Not seen that so far.
It was a really good team win yesterday and the guys definitely seem to be more on the same page than the previous year or two. But I don’t think Jones has changed much. Just watching from the ESPN feed Stanley is the guy he’ll be on the most this year. Maybe that’s deserving because he hasn’t seemed to hit his potential. Fields looks really good and I hope he will earn more minutes as time goes this season. Williams plays hard but has no touch. Without looking at the stats appears we basically played 7 guys and as the season goes into conference play I don’t see Jones gaining any confidence in his bench ( which he has said he would use). He played Baker for a minute or two and I don’t think Wade played at all. Wade will probably struggle against bigger teams since he is basically playing in the paint. Smith is not getting any minutes so here is hoping Jenkins and TSG can stay hot. Kudos to Essien, he looks very solid at the point. He reminds me a little of Brian Dunlap, not flashy but very solid PG. Sorry for all the rambling, but just some thoughts off the top of my head.
Stanley is our worst defensive player. That tells you all you need to know about why Jones is all over him. If I were a college basketball coach I would be all over the worst defender on the team too.
This is correct. I don't think Jones has changed at all but they have a better team so there are less plays worthy of being yelled at.
Stanley is a defensive issue. Good offensive player. He's the one big that can get his own shot. https://evanmiya.com/
I like the development of Fields. I really could see him taking off within a year or 2
100% agree on Fields. I was skeptical when we signed him but he plays hard and has been really quick moving his feet to take some big charges. Plus he seems to have a very nice touch around the basket. He should have a bright future.
