Dems are stupid, can't organize a one car parade, can't find this dirt over two election cycles.

Also, democrats steal elections all over the United States without ever being caught.

(12-19-2022 12:16 PM)Redwingtom Wrote:  Interesting to see if this develops into anything...

If true, how does none of this come out during the campaign?!?

Quote:His campaign biography amplified his storybook journey: He is the son of Brazilian immigrants, and the first openly gay Republican to win a House seat as a non-incumbent. By his account, he catapulted himself from a New York City public college to become a “seasoned Wall Street financier and investor” with a family-owned real estate portfolio of 13 properties and an animal rescue charity that saved more than 2,500 dogs and cats.

But a New York Times review of public documents and court filings from the United States and Brazil, as well as various attempts to verify claims that Santos, 34, made on the campaign trail, calls into question key parts of the resume that he sold to voters.

Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, the marquee Wall Street firms on Santos’ campaign biography, told The New York Times they had no record of his ever working there. Officials at Baruch College, which Santos has said he graduated from in 2010, could find no record of anyone matching his name and date of birth graduating that year.

There was also little evidence that his animal rescue group, Friends of Pets United, was, as Santos claimed, a tax-exempt organization: The Internal Revenue Service could locate no record of a registered charity with that name.

His financial disclosure forms suggest a life of some wealth. He lent his campaign more than $700,000 during the midterm election, has donated thousands of dollars to other candidates in the last two years and reported a $750,000 salary and more than $1 million in dividends from his company, the Devolder Organization.

Yet the firm, which has no public website or LinkedIn page, is something of a mystery. On a campaign website, Santos once described Devolder as his “family’s firm” that managed $80 million in assets. On his congressional financial disclosure, he described it as a capital introduction consulting company, a type of boutique firm that serves as a liaison between investment funds and deep-pocketed investors. But Santos’ disclosures did not reveal any clients, an omission three election law experts said could be problematic if such clients exist.

And while Santos has described a family fortune in real estate, he has not disclosed, nor could the Times find, records of his properties.
Who Is Rep.-Elect George Santos? His Resume May Be Largely Fiction

p.s.: This is a NY Times story, but a lot of their stuff is behind paywalls.

So what is the problem? Did he lie about his positions? Anything that really matters?

Surprised the fake NYT isn't claiming he is not gay.

Wait a minute is this a Democrat in Republican clothing?

That would explain why this guy was able to get past all this stuff. The R's aren't doing it becasue they think this guy is an R, and the D's (and their media) aren't digging because they know he is a D in R clothing......

This just sounds like another politician to me. No different than what Biden has represented himself as. This is a non story unless Americans want and will hold politicians accountable. Until then 03-yawn this is just another politician story that no one will do anything but finger point.

We'll see if he gets sworn and how he votes. If he votes with the D's, you'll have your answer.

It is rather awesome that Santos himself is using the word “story” to describe what he intends to say.

RE: Incoming NY GOP Rep Santos may be a total fraud
‘Journalist’ Is Reminded of the Many Faces of Joe Biden After Asking if There’s ‘Precedent’ to the George Santos Situation'

Quote:I admit that I have not closely followed the story of Rep.-elect George Santos (R-N.Y.) and the allegations that he made up substantial portions of life story out of whole cloth.

But if what the New York Times has reported about the alleged holes in Santos’ telling of his story is accurate (he says he plans on addressing the allegations next week) then a lot of people have some major explaining to do, including Republican operatives who didn’t do a better job of vetting Santos, Democrats who did a terrible job on the oppo-research front, and perhaps most notably the MSM – whose jobs it is to catch stuff like this.

In response, Politico deputy managing editor Sam Stein (formerly of HuffPo and Daily Beast infamy) took to the Twitter machine Thursday to inquire if there had ever been a situation on par with Santos’ (alleged) made-up history.

“Is there any precedent at all to this George Santos situation?” Stein asked, seemingly insinuating that there hadn’t been. “Has Congress ever had someone with so many remarkable biographical holes?”

Well… yeah, Sam, there has been. You may have heard of him. His name? Joe Biden – happens to be president right now, you know?

Grabien founder/viral video guru Tom Elliott had the answer at the ready, saving many of us a lot of trouble in the process by recounting many of the embellishments and lies told by Joe Biden about his story and that of his family over the course of his multiple decades of “service” in Washington, D.C.

Here’s the list Elliott composed in a mini-Twitter thread:

“— Survived a fire
— Arrested in civil rights march
— Star football player
— Once a truck driver
— Arrested meeting Mandela
— Son killed in Iraq
— Overheard mass shooting
— Top of his class in college
— Hit a 368’ homer in baseball game
— Had job at timber co.

— Drunk driver killed his wife & daughter
— Pinned medal on a Navy captain who was just a kid
— No knowledge of Hunter’s foreign business dealings
— Turned down offer from the Naval Academy
— His uncle won a Purple Heart
— His helicopter in Afghanistan “forced down”

— Met Parkland families as vice president
— Was once a coal miner
— Comes from a family of coal miners
— Was shot at in Iraq
— Called Milosevic a “war criminal” to his face
— Criticized George W. Bush to his face
— Participated in sit-ins during civil rights movement

— Oil industry somehow gave him cancer
— Won a fight against a drug dealer named Cornpop
— Dead Amtrak worker awarded him for riding 1.8 million miles
— Attended Temple services on a Sunday
— Raised in Puerto Rican community
— Worked as a college prof”

There are of course many more where that came from, but the most recent one Elliott mentioned was one Biden told to a group of Delaware veterans he was speaking to last Friday, where he told the story of how when he was Barack Obama’s vice president he supposedly awarded his Uncle Frank the Purple Heart during a family gathering at the urging of his father Joe, Sr.

As we previously reported, in his remarks, Biden said his Uncle Frank won the Purple Heart after fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. According to Biden, his father Joe Biden, Sr. asked him after he was elected Vice President in 2008 to present it to his uncle because “he never got it.” President Biden went on to say that when he did supposedly try to present it to his Uncle Frank that he didn’t want it.

The big problem with this story, as noted by Forbes.com, is that Biden’s uncle and his father both died several years before Biden became Barack Obama’s VP:

President Joe Biden appeared to make a major gaffe Friday when he claimed that after being elected vice president in 2008, he awarded his uncle, Frank Biden, a Purple Heart for his service in World War II, but there are some major holes in his story–primarily the fact his uncle died almost a decade before the 2008 election.

[…]

The president’s father died in 2002; his uncle died in 1999.

[…]

There doesn’t appear to be any record of Biden giving his uncle the honor—the president hasn’t mentioned the story in the past, there have been no news articles written about it and Frank Biden’s name does not appear on a list of recipients held by the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, though the list is incomplete.

Worse yet, apparently the story was another (made-up) version of a whopper he told in 2019 that sounded very similar:

Biden’s history of getting caught making stuff as he goes all the way back to at least the late 80s during his first failed presidential run when it was discovered that he had plagiarized the work of others and lied about being the first in his family to graduate from college.

But move along, though, nothing here to see. We’re not dealing with a serial liar here. It’s just “Joe being Joe,” as his apologists in the mainstream press have suggested.

RE: Incoming NY GOP Rep Santos may be a total fraud
As George Santos Scandal Swirls, the Cause for Lax Journalism Is Found – It’s the Readers Who Are to Blame

Quote:As readers wonder how journalists failed at their jobs, the journalists decide to point right back at them.

There is a bit of a furor taking place in the New York area as Congressman-elect George Santos is being looked into for various possible fabrications in his résumé. The New York Times came out with the story this week, raising questions about his background, finances, and possible disclosure violations. (Sam Stein managed to step in it, as he pretended no other politician has such a fictionalized biography.) Other outlets are suggesting Santos is insufficiently gay as well. But the Times and others are managing to generate more questions as well, primarily Long Island voters and others asking, “Where was this reporting before the election?!”

It is a valid query, especially considering there is something of a pattern taking place with stories managing to be newly focused in a post-election environment. It is notable how after November 8th, we learned Jose Biden had not actually solved the train labor dispute, and there has been a rise in interest at the border. Call it “Laptop Lag,” the phenomenon of press diligence increasing after election results are called. But in this case, it has been the Democrats who have been impacted by journalistic sloth, so now it is regarded as a problem.

In facing these questions New York Times fixture Michael Barbaro defensively lashed out, declaring that if news consumers were bothered by this result they should actually look in the mirror. Seriously – he tried to deflect by stating the problem might rest with the news consumer.

This says so much. When the news outlets do not do their actual jobs the blame rests with the consumer for not supporting them properly. The ridiculousness begins with the suggestion that the New York Times is insufficiently staffed to have looked into this matter. Meanwhile, this is the same paper that has its journalists going on strike, demanding more money – as they are being shown to have not performed their jobs.

But making this asinine dodge more wrong is the fact that the news outlets had been spoonfed the Santos information months prior. The Democratic Party had compiled most of the information that is now being reported about the Republican, and they were not hoarding that oppo-research. The DCCC had a paper with background on Santos, including some of his questionable financials. This was sent out to numerous news outlets, both locally and with national offices. This was delivered out “To Interested Parties” this past August.

Instead of being introspective, other journalists have joined in with Barbero with the finger pointing. Alberto Riva from The New Yorker makes a point about this consumer report, but it is not the point he thinks he is making.

What Al needs to consider is that when discussing the drop in subscriptions in a discussion of journalists failing at their jobs he has justified the decision to walk away from these publications. Also in need of referencing here, following that plunge in subscriber rates, you have the public trust in the media plummeting at the same time. They are fueling their own demise and then blaming the marketplace reaction for their predicament.

Another writer chimed in with an opinion on the matter and it only deepens the idiocy.

There is so much contained within the brevity of just over a dozen words. Expecting the press to deliver news and vital information is now an act of entitlement?! Well, good to know. Then there is the small matter of suggesting people go find out information for themselves. These are the same type of elitist writers who denigrate the citizen journalist, calling them sub-level reporters because they do not have to submit to the same rigorous editing standards and fact-checking that legitimate outlets maintain.

But look at the reaction when it is pointed out that they are not even doing the work to be submitted to those verifications – “Well then go find out for yourself!” Well played, Mr. Geniusolist; when you send people to go off and do their own investigations it means they do not need you to do it for them, which means they do not need to subscribe to any outlet where the reporters are abdicating their role in that same line of work.

They spend more time assessing blame for their lack of results than delivering results. Then they sit back and bemoan the dwindling sales figures and watch co-workers filling up document boxes as they clean out their desks.

RE: Incoming NY GOP Rep Santos may be a total fraud
Santos has just admitted to lying about his academic and work record. I do not care what side of the aisle one chooses to sit, if you lie about your past you should be disqualified from holding the position, whether in government or private business. Santos needs to go, and I would prefer it by his own resignation, vice some forced removal. Even though clowns such as Richard Blumenthal should have done the same years ago for his lies about his Vietnam-era service (Hell, and Biden for many things, for that matter), Santos needs to do the right thing here, even with such a narrow margin in the House. I don't like it, and wish it was different, but principles matter, even when most inconvenient to follow them. And just because the other side is ok with such things, I am not. Be the better man, and the better party, and pay for the willful mistakes you have made. It is that simple.

Please enlighten on the integrity of the American Politician. I can list almost every politician I know of that lie. They unlike this clown just do a better job of hiding it.

Like I said until Americans actually want to and will hold them accountable this is the product we will get and rightfully so.

Be better and expect better. You cannot claim any moral high-ground if you accept the same shenanigans that you catch on the other side.

Call it old-fashioned and outdated, but I don't want to be the guy supporting liars on the right because their policy positions align closer to mine. I'd rather support honest folks that hold some value in representing their districts in a fair and open election. Cheating to win such elections is something for which I have no appetite, as clunky and counter-productive as that may seem in light of recent current events. Principles mean nothing when you trash them for convenience.
