If you can't see that, then this conversation is over as there is no reasoning with ya. Still love ya as a Marshall fan, but...geez.
As to the AAC, I'm honestly not sure I'd rather be there. Other than Memphis and ECU, there isn't really anything there I'd care to play on a regular basis. All are either snobby privates (Tulsa, Tulane, etc), crappy programs (Temple) or recent CUSA trash that I'm happy to be away from now (Charlotte, etc). Navy would be nice, but since they are in the west we'd rarely play them anyway.
As to the rest of your post, we are in a better position now to move up than if we'd stayed in that sinking CUSA ship. If such a realignment as you propose happens, being in CUSA or Sun Belt would not make a bit of difference as to our attractiveness to whatever 'bigger conference' is looking at us. As we showed with CUSA, contracts are made to be broken if necessary. Though I doubt such a situation happens. If there is a break away of the top teams, I doubt we are included, regardless of what conference we may currently reside in.
I assure you, we're not sad about not playing Marshall JUCO.
Yeah, that's because the last time we played you got boat raced out of the stadium. Call us up. We'll pluck your feathers again. And that's a pretty high and mighty statement coming from a school that got booted from a P5 conference because they were too pathetic in athletics.
And yet the BE and AAC didn't want Marshall
That's right. We aren't a fit institutionally. We have a small enrollment in a small city. That is what held us out. We are okay with it and quite frankly, after UC, UCF, and UH leave, other than ECU and Navy, we are perfectly happy in the SBC. So enjoy your annual game against Charlotte and FAU...hahaha.. Well, you probably won't enjoy them because they will most likely beat you.
And as if your suckage in football wasn't enough... Sun Belt teams ahead of Temple (#157) in MBB NET:
Old Dominion - 155
South Alabama - 128
Troy - 113
Louisiana - 93
James Madison - 44
MARSHALL - 41
Southern Mississippi - 27
Half of our league is better than you. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Wait, I know how to help you. Go resurrect John Chaney from whatever rock he is living under, and re-hire him as coach to recruit about 4-5 goons to put on the bench to send into games and injure opposing players.
You should probably just stop responding and slink back the the AAC board where you and your Temple teams can continue to ride the coattails of the men in the conference.
Add in that Marshall football has already won more games this season than Temple has won in the last three years combined. LOL and we still have a bowl game to play.

I'm surprised there's anyone out there who thinks staying behind in C-USA was a good option. Maybe older fans who sunk a lot of their own money and time getting Marshall into C-USA in the first place being in denial but no one else.
Marshall was left behind twice by AAC raids on C-USA. The school simply doesn't fit the AAC profile of big metros, urban R1s, giant enrollments, and all that stuff. Maybe in the next few years the ACC will be raided by the SEC and Big 10 and will infill but why stick around in C-USA because that might happen? And would we really want to be in that conference, anyways?
The Sun Belt is a good home. It's almost entirely rural schools with smaller enrollments but very tight geography and some solid football following. It's also the first FBS conference where Marshall isn't the outlier or stepchild. And for the first time in ages, I found myself following and watching our conference mates.
Staying behind in C-USA would mean continuing with their bizarre media deal of the week, playing every game in October on a weeknight, flying to El Paso each season, a basketball tournament setup like the YMCA, and being in a conference where the only requirement to join is a willingness to be in C-USA.
Staying behind would have been an absolute disaster.

This, all of this. I was around for the original move to CUSA. Heck, I was around a few years before that and had some inside info about our attempts to go for football only with our Olympic sports going to the Southern or Horizon which obviously fell through. CUSA has become just a poor shell of itself, certainly not being the conference we joined, or the conference we were left in a few times. It really blows my mind that ANYONE would think we'd be better off there.

Ditto times (pick a number.). Well said fellas. And as one of the oldest fans on this board (72), I’m solidly in the pro SBC camp. It’s the perfect fit for us, based on my years of experience that goes back to 1968.

CUSA stomped its dong flat in 2013. It "might" have been saved with the right adds:
CUSA loses:
ECU
UCF
Houston
Tulsa
Tulane
SMU
Memphis
Remaining:
Marshall
UAB
UTEP
Rice
USM
Should have added:
Ohio
Toledo
App
GaSo
ULL
LaTech
ODU
JMU
Troy
Marshall
Toledo
Ohio
ODU
JMU
APP
GaSo
UTEP
Rice
ULL
LaTech
USM
UAB
Troy
I think that might have held CUSA together. But I am PERFECTLY happy in the Sun Belt and I am glad that didn't happen.
