Florida officer OD's after fentanyl exposure during traffic stop, treated with Narcan
Quote:A female Florida cop was treated with three doses of Narcan by fellow officers after she reportedly became victim to fentanyl poisoning from touching drugs she found inside a vehicle that was being searched.

Body cam footage from the Tuesday night traffic stop, which has now gone viral, shows the disturbing moment Tavares Officer Courtney Bannick appeared to be struggling for her life.

In the video, one can see Bannick lying motionless on the ground while being administered the life-saving drug.

According to a New York Post report, Bannick touched a rolled-up dollar bill containing what she believed to be narcotics in the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, she was gasping for air and "in and out of consciousness and needing immediate medical attention," said the Tavares Police Department in a press release obtained by Click Orlando.

After hearing her struggling to breathe over her radio, three nearby officers lept into action; removing Bannick from her vehicle, laying her on the ground next to the side of the road, and administering Narcan, the fast-acting medication. After being given the medication she was able to sit upright and talk, before she lost consciousness and seemed to stop breathing, the bodycam footage shows.

"She was completely lifeless. She looks deceased in these videos," Tavares police detective Courtney Sullivan said to Fox 35 Orlando. "So she's very thankful today."

Bannick was given three Narcan doses before she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. She is expected to make a full recovery, the New York Post reported.

The officer used the harrowing moment to reflect.

"I have done this 100 times before the same way. It only takes one time and a minimal amount," Bannick said. "I'm thankful I wasn't alone and had immediate help."

"If the other officers weren't there, there's a very high chance and probability that today would be different and that we would be wearing our thin blue line — the straps that go over our badges," Sullivan said, referring to when an officer falls in the line of duty.

The individuals who allegedly had the drugs in their possession are possibly facing felony charges, the Post reported.

Florida Cop Who OD’d After Fentanyl Exposure Details Near-Death Experience

Quote:The Florida cop who overdosed after being exposed to fentanyl during a traffic stop is speaking out about her near-death experience, saying she would have died if fellow officers weren’t nearby.

Officer Courtney Bannick of the Tavares Police Department drifted in and out of consciousness after accidentally ingesting the powerful narcotic — which is 100 times stronger than heroin — during a Tuesday traffic stop.

Bannick told local reporters Thursday she planned to return to her precinct to test the drug, but suddenly began gasping for air as she headed to her vehicle

“As soon as I started talking, I was light-headed a little bit and started almost choking,” she said, according to Click Orlando. “I couldn’t breathe. I wasn’t getting enough air and I remember kind of wheezing, gasping.”

A colleague noticed that she was in distress and administered three doses of Narcan, which reverses overdoses. Bannick was transported to a local hospital and has since returned to work.

The veteran officer, who was wearing surgical gloves while handling the narcotic, said she can’t clearly recall how she ingested the drug, but speculated she may have wiped her face at some point.

“I’m very mindful that I don’t touch my face if I have gloves on, but did I wipe my nose with my wrist? I don’t know,” she said.

Bannick, who asked that the footage be released to expose the synthetic opiod’s lethal potency, said the drug is constantly evolving.

Bombing the border is more appropriate. It is a useful drug when used appropriately, but street pushers mixing it to make up for shite heroin is what is leading this epidemic. Personally there will be three less faces at my 20 year high school reunion than there were at my 10 year from ODs. In a graduating class of less than 50 that's a big hit.

Yes we should and they learned this trick with British Empire importation of opium into their society. And round and round we go.

Great to see the officer has recovered well thus far!

You have no idea. China is killing Americans with the assistance of the cartels in Mexico. The "Fentanyl" killing people in the US at a 300+/day rate is not a "drug" per se. It is poison. I found out last night a kid (19) that went to school with my son ODed on "Fentanyl" Thursday that was in a joint. Dead in seconds. The US needs to treat the Cartels in Mexico the same way we treat Tangos in the ME. Drone their houses and factories. China is at war with us and we act like it isn't happening. The Billions of $$$ going to Ukraine would actually benefit the US if used for fighting this War at our Southern border.

And the Biden Administration and the Democratic Party is compliant with all of this.

Keep Voting the same and keep getting the same results.

There is money being made at the highest levels of our Government to allow these drugs and illegals to keep flowing. Americans are fools for allowing this to continue.
