The only school I worry about is if the TarHeels come calling and I wouldn't blame him for that.
Looks like JC did a solid strategic job with the extension/contract. Now let's hope (and support) the team thru getting on court results to match the level of strategy. This feels to me like UC back in the old Big East days... great hoops with even stronger football. So much opportunity for the Bearcats on the horizon.
A few months ago did you see fick leaving for wisconsin? I sure didnt. I was shocked mick came so close to unlv, a lesser program in a lesser league.
Theres likely several ACC teams, as well as unknown others, wes would leave here for. I believe cunningham negotiated appropriately

Wisconsin was one of the jobs I worried about Fickell going to.
Yea... Mick seemed to want out of Cincinnati. The UNLV thing was telling. Until then I wouldn't have seen Mick leaving. When he left for UCLA it didn't shock me at all.
But I think the list of basketball jobs you'd leave UC for is really small if Wes gets this thing rolling.
Hell, it's pretty small in football too.

I didn't see him leaving for Wisconsin but I very much thought he'd leave for a Big 10/SEC type gig as he continued to be successful at UC. Truth be told, I thought him being there this season was icing on the cake, especially after Marcus went to ND. The B12 in football is big time with a lowercase b... for now, and making even an expanded playoff in a good % of years will be a tall order for any team in the league outside of the conf champ... in basketball however, we are honestly looking at a scenario where up to 8 or 9 of the 12 teams could reasonably expect to be in the Big Dance in most if not every year and where you can expect to be playing against multiple top 5 teams every year. From a coaching perspective, if you are trying to measure yourself against the "best", B12 basketball is light years ahead of B12 football - for the next several years anyway.

I am a UC grad, UC donor, UC fan and have had multiple kids go to UC... I drink the kool-aid but don't guzzle it.
That said, if I was Fickell and a fairly major SEC program (think LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, TN, FL) or a top 5 or 6 B1G program came knocking... I'd most likely leave. That's why I had no problem with Mick at the time going to UCLA. PAC12 exposure and $$ avail > AAC. If we had been where we are today or even when Wes was hired, I truly don't think Mick would have left UC. UC may have dismissed him, but he would have stayed for a reasonable offer and the challenge of the Big12 conf IMO.
The days of a coach staying at a school for 10+ or 15+ years not at one of the top 2 or 3 schools in the SEC or B1G are gone for the most part. Too much money on both sides, too many alum and too much TV exposure. We may not like it, but we dang sure better get used to it.
IMO it will be easier for UC to keep a wildly successful (not saying that's what will happen but I'm hoping) Coach Miller than a mediocrely successful (not saying that's his ceiling, definitely hope not) Coach Satterfield just because of the dynamics at play in the 2 sports. UC is in arguably THE destination conf for hoops, not so much for football... but still a major step up from the AAC (no disrespect to what that league has been)

CBB tells to not have the coaching turnover every three years like football. Guys like Kelvin Sampson, Ed Cooley, Anthony Grant have been at their respective jobs for several years now and their football equivalents would have long bailed for the SEC/B10 type jobs. Heck, Mick was at UC for 14 years before he eventually left town.
