Not yet. It’s taking a while. Can’t get into details. I will announce when the family lets me know.

I vote funeral pyre on the north side of the stadium. We can build the bonfire around the big red chair.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Jan 14 at Sweetwater Methodist Church on US Hwy 441, 2.1 miles north of the intersection of US Hwy 82 & US Hwy 441, which is the traffic light in the center of Pearson, Ga. It doesn’t seem to have a street address. There are two small churches side by side on the right as you head north. Sweetwater is the one next to the cemetery. Their phone number is 912-286-1869.

We still may do something locally. Working on a couple of ideas. I’ll be going to Pearson though.

July 24, 1954 - Dec 12, 2022

Dewayne Meeks of Bessemer, Alabama passed away at his home December 12, 2022 from complications of diabetes. Dewayne is survived by son, Zach Meeks of Houston, Tx, Brother, Jay Meeks of Fernandina Beach, Fl, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse M. Meeks, mother, Helen Altman Meeks and sister, Kay Elgin. Dewayne will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his love for being with his friends. Always the sports fan, Dewayne was a faithful follower of UAB sports and will be greatly missed by his UAB family. A memorial service celebrating the life of Dewayne will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Sweetwater Methodist Church, US Highway 441 North, Pearson, Georgia, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11am.
