RE: A-State Portal Offers
Moved this post from another thread, combined the offers.

Have only received one Portal commit, LB Wendell Davis, from Northwestern : https://www.on3.com/db/wendell-davis-120323/ . The 240lb Davis started out at Michigan St where he had several starts. He and 235 JC commit Matthew Drake Thornton, should be a solid replacements for Jordan Carmouche, who was a solid Portal addition last year.

LSU CB Damarius McGhee is thought to be leaning toward A-State: https://www.on3.com/db/damarius-mcghee-28451/

Memphis RB Rodrigues Clark is thought to leaning toward A-State: https://www.on3.com/db/rodrigues-clark-101810/

West Virginia QB Will Crowder is also thought to leaning toward A-State: https://www.on3.com/db/will-crowder-120732/

RB ShunDerrick Powell is supposedly still considering A-State and UCA: https://www.on3.com/db/shunderrick-powell-107330/

Florida RB Lorenzo Lingard does not show any preference but supposedly like what he saw in his visit : https://www.on3.com/db/lorenzo-lingard-80103/ .Edited note: my guess based on how his visit went is he is leaning toward A-State.

Arizona DT Dion Wilson is thought the be leaning a little bit toward A-State : https://www.on3.com/db/dion-wilson-37162/

RE: A-State Portal Offers
Former A-State WR Corey Rucker is back in the Portal.

https://www.on3.com/db/corey-rucker-26303/

Would not be surprised if he does not end up back at A-State. Probably will be more surprised if he does not.

RE: A-State Portal Offers
Lamar commit Jacob Bayer would be a solid get if he signed, and should challenge returning starter Ethan Minor for the starting job at center.

Like other positions on the OL, and DL for that matter, having freshmen- true freshman Chase Jessup was their #2 at center, as their primary backups or even starters, cost them three and probably four games they were wining until their starters tuckered out in the fourth quarter.

While they are talented those youngsters had no business being on the field at this point, and with the Portal something Butch should not have allowed to happen.

They have three P5 Portal transfers on campus this week that are not listed on the offer list above, so it looks like Butch is trying not to make the same mistake that cost them this season, next year.

RE: A-State Portal Offers
Looking at their commits, they only have three that look like they are sure additions to their 2-deep for 2023. Portal transfers LB Wendell Davis, and OL Jacob Bayer, and JC LB Matthew Drake Thornton.

Hopefully that will change, if not in the early signing period , then the regular signing period, or over the summer. If not there will probably be more growing pains in 2023, but most likely not like 2022.

RE: A-State Portal Offers
While I say that adding some older players is critical, it is worth remembering their youngsters are by far the most highly recruited, highly rated group in their programs history-they could field a 2-deep, and many positions 3-deep with nothing but P5 recruits ,if they wanted to.

Because so many youngsters got thrown into the fire in 2022- many had to start games, they have a lot more experience going into 2023.

Other than Ray Perkins, Butch Jones is probably the best recruiter in their programs history, so talent should not be a major issue from them going forward.

No SBC program is in a better position when it comes to talent than A-State, and that should not change under Butch Jones, and the really good news he is even better at developing it.

Now coaching it is still an open question.
