RE: Basketball Attendance
Also, going to the Final Four didn’t hurt. But it’s not a requirement.

I look for ULM's numbers to drop as more and more losses pile up. I certainly wouldn't pay to go see that crap they are putting on the floor.

Add that Texas State is awful and you don't get fans. It's the same nationwide. People support a good product, period. If TX State showed themselves to be a good team, they'd have good attendance. Blaming the state is ridiculous.

Late 80's and early 90's saw some fantastic games between NLU and SWTxST. We had packed gyms in Monroe and San Marcos. How times have changed.

They were top 3 in SBC attendance the last few years before we left the SBC.

RE: Basketball Attendance
I went to the Louisiana vs Samford game on Saturday, and the Louisiana vs Louisiana Christian game on Monday.

The crowd was small for both games, but felt even smaller because of how large the Cajundome is. But crowd size aside, holy cow the Cajundome is a FIRST CLASS arena. The interior concourse setup is a little confusing (layers like an onion) but that is an arena that should host tournaments. Good stuff, Cajuns. Also, #21 is a stud.

(The beer prices were also pretty high for college, FWIW. I paid $12 for a beer.)

supposedly, we're getting ready to renovate the Yurt ... I'm begging for all chair-backs to reduce capacity with the premise it will generate higher demand with a higher 'gate' and 'comfort experience' ... of course, it always helps when ya generate a valid product ... now's that time...

Ga State surprises me. A strong program for many years with a brand new arena. I guess lots of completion in Atlanta for the sports fan dollar is to blame. That's not an issue in Norfolk, Virginia.

Concession prices at the Cajundome are a bone of contention. The University has no control over pricing, as they do at the other venues. Going to the movies is cheaper.

The Cajundome is an NBA-class arena. But, as you stated, it's wayyyy too big in todays college basketball in the deep south. In the late 80s/early 90s, the Cajuns would get right at 10,000 when they played a big rival like New Orleans was back then (Tim Floyd was their coach).

And, we'd draw 8,000 when WKU came to town. But those days are long gone. I think we averaged around 4,000 in 17-18 when we won 27 games.
