I'm with you Billy. Under 10 a win, but i'm thinking 15-20. Nunge and Freemantle will dominate the paint!

Bolded, my concern as well. Lahkin has shown great improvement this season but Sean Miller will have his interior guys driving right at him early and often. Lakhin will likely have three fouls before halftime and that means the express lane will be open for the X interior guys the rest of the day.

Maybe this is "the year" where it all goes right for UC, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if that's the case. I just don't think the Bearcats have enough quality players yet to make a game of it, even in Fifth-Third.

We've got other plans Saturday so count me among those who don't even care to watch this game at this stage of the rebuild. But I'm interested enough to DVR it in case I miss Wes Miller's biggest win to date.

I'm getting messages/email from UC to buy tickets for the game. This used to be an automatic sellout.

I think they just released the very limited number today. I looks like about 30-40 seats right now. They were selling them in mini plans only prior to today.

ESPN has it 52% X, 48% UC. Way too close from my view. Haven't seen spread yet, but this might be a good one to lay some green on the blue.

I could be wrong, but I don't think college basketball lines typically come out until game days.

However I suspect the line will be Xavier by 1-3.

Going into this game I am not sure if Xavier wins by 20 or UC upsets them. It has that type of vibe to it. When the road has a significantly better roster the home team usually wins this game because this game makes no sense.

RE: Crosstown Shootout
I see a repeat of last year. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know Vik is the most important player UC needs to be on the floor. S. Miller will go at him right away to try and get him in foul trouble, (which odds are Vik will accommodate), then they will dominate inside and on the boards the rest of the way. No one on their team went off from 3pt. last year. They shot 31.3%. They outrebounded us 41-28 last year. I don't see any reason why that would change. This year X still rebounds really well. They outrebounded Gonzaga, WVA, Florida and were only outrebounded by IU by 3 and Duke by 1. Only way we keep it close is if we play the type of game they historically play and several of our guys get hot from 3pt land. It's stating the obvious, but something out of the ordinary is going to need to happen for UC to have a chance.

I shrugged and asked him abut the rumors Xavier is starting a football team. He just said they are desperate to attract any student to the school right now.

Ah yes, the old, "You can't hurt me anymore because I don't care" defense mechanism. If you can't get excited about playing X at home with the schedule we have this year, there is no reason to follow UC basketball. This is a huge game.

I've felt the same way about this team and for about the last 3-4 years. To me it's no different than the way I follow the reds. I'm interested in April, May & June. By the middle of July I'm ready to move on to College football.

I watch most UC basketball games, but I am trying to remember the last time I was either excited after a win or disappointed after a loss.

I think it might have been the Nevada NCAA game.

As a whole non-conference basketball games matter to build your resume for the tournament, but individually they don't mean anything. It's all about winning your conference and getting to the tournament.

I hated XU with a passion when I was young, probably into my mid to late 30s. As a 50 year old, my feelings moved from hate to apathy--- they truly mean nothing to me. Maybe I am just too far removed out here in suburbia.

Bolded, my feeling as well. And the feelings of most folks living in Greater Cincinnati, excluding those filling 10,000 seats in Cintas Center on any given game day.

I still can’t stand Xavier but the reason apathy has set in for a lot UC fans come down to a couple of major changes over the last 15 to 20 years.

1. The rise of college football and NFL has turned college basketball into an afterthought until March. The Crosstown shootout sits directly in the stretch run of the NFL season and college bowl season. December college basketball games just don’t move the needle in a crowded sports landscape. Moving this game later in the season would help generate more interest.

2. The rise of Xavier basketball and the rise of UC football has given these two fan bases different priorities. UC basketball still matters but the football team as overtaken UC basketball in terms of fan interest. Two fans don’t have the same level of interest in this game.

3. UC hasn’t won. Losing this game from has changed the way UC fans view this game.

4. Conference realignment has put Xavier and UC on relatively even footing in terms of the basketball landscape. Big Bad UC vs Mid-Major Xavier was always a good national storyline. AAC UC vs Big East Xavier isn’t interesting, Big XII UC vs Big East XU isn’t either. These are now two power conference programs that haven’t done a lot nationally since the both blew it in 2018.

5. Coaching changes, Huggins vs Gillen was a big deal 30 years ago. For a long time the other side’s coach was the biggest bad guy in town. Way too much coaching and roster turnover has me wondering how many guys even know who plays on the other team.

Wes' radio show comments on Josh Reed were really encouraging. He's been really good offensively every time he's seen the floor but Wes commented that he had the 2nd best defensive grade on the team against Bryant. I suspect his minutes will rise.

As some have suggested here, if UC is going to take its lumps this year, it's becoming more clear that Reed and Skillings are the future and meaningful playing time this season could mean a giant leap in their performances next season when still more talent arrives.

Did Sage burn his redshirt by playing recently, or is there a certain number of games where he could play and still retain another year of eligibility? With Lahkin's penchant for silly fouls, Sage may be needed now for some depth in that rotation.

That's surprising to me. He couldn't stay in front of his man, it seemed.

On the Bryant postgame interview with Hoard and Nelson, Miller pretty much said he was going to play because they need the help inside.
