Exclamation UC Football Coaching Staff Carousel (Satterfield edition)
As often happens these days, I suspect much of Satterfield's staff will be guys he brings from Louisville. I think this feeds into that likelihood:

Quote:Heird said to start U of L's news conference Deion Branch will coach the bowl game but is not a candidate for the permanent head coaching job. Branch, a U of L alumnus, was hired in January as the program's director of player development....Heird said he has already begun the process. He said he does not believe anyone currently on staff will be a candidate.

Scott Satterfield introduced as Cincinnati football coach, leaves Louisville after 4 years

RE: UC Football Coaching Staff Carousel (Satterfield edition)
Satterfield does not feel like a long term UC coach. IF things go well, he leaves for a bigger job in about 4 years. If things do not go well, UC releases him as soon as UC can afford the buyout (which make details of the contract interesting).

So, a good athletic director starts making his list now for who replaces Satterfield in 3-5 years. Wonder if Gino stays around in hope of being that guy?

What’s a long term coach these days, anyway?

One thing for sure is that UC just saved his bacon, and he knows it. Guys like Fick, BK, BJ and Dantonio had no idea prior to their arrival at UC what it was like to be on the hot seat. This guy does. Will it make a difference? Probably not.

Bruce Feldman is full of sh*t. Either that or he’s trying to be a comedian. Louisville doesn’t want him and I can confidently say y’all don’t want him either.

Everyone else on the staff is a keeper but Coach Brown.

Gino will be in WI coaching Tressel Ball using the Don Treadwell Method.

He’d have to take a demotion. I can’t see him being the OC at Wisconsin. But maybe. Who knows.

Is he being considered anywhere? I know the players like him but I'm not sure how many programs would consider him with one (so so) year of coordinator experience.

From my understanding, yes he is.

Someone mentioned that Western Michigan is considering him.

Confirmed, article that is 2 hours old:
https://www.on3.com/teams/michigan-wolve...-michigan/

"Paul believes Western Michigan is down to three finalists — Cincinnati offensive coordinator Gino Guidugli, Louisville offensive coordinator Lance Taylor and West Virginia offensive coordinator Graham Harrell."

WMU paid their last head coach $800k/year. That's well below what a coordinator earns at OSU or Michigan these days - even Hartline earned $950k last year as "passing game coordinator."

Scott Satterfield, I am ready. I am ready to put my clothes on and line up behind you as the Cincinnati Bearcats prepare to dominate for the next 200 years! And if you like the other football teams you better beware, because Satterfield will be the greatest football coach of all time. It's over for everybody else, and it's just getting started at Cincinnati!

I love the O-Line coach. He not only could coach, but kids loved him. He's young, but he's a recruiting star in the making.

The way the game is structured today, people who are serious about being HC sometimes have to make a decision to work for a bit less in the G5 than what they could make as a P5 assistant. It may be a gamble worth taking. If you succeed, you will have P5 programs making big HC offers within 1-3 years. Fail, and you just latch on as a P5 assistant.

I want Gino going to WMU for multiple reasons. Prep to be our coach down the line, and also eliminates a recruiting threat as an OC somewhere else WI, UK and wherever else his names been mentioned.

Great article, thanks. With their P5 experience, I can't wait to see what happens.
