2022 was the quietest start to a hurricane season through the end of August since 1988. Not a single named storm formed in August for the first time in 25 years and only the third time since 1950. Heard about many Hurricanes this year?

I believe in climate change, even man contributed climate change (to a degree), but the moment powerful people dipped their fingers into the situation it immediately became monetized. They will say anything they think will bring more money to their bank accounts, and that includes the scientists that are paid to research then verify what the money men tell them to verify.

When they work out nuclear fusion, I am all for reworking our power grids, until then they are pissing in the wind.

I can't ever remember when players chose their own head coach and it worked out for all parties.

even if CRS wins the recruiting wars, he has proved he is still not a good coach or manager of the clock. they'll probably let him stay with a 7-5 record and even offer him a raise. it's just the way the UofM operates.

This is how you handle a coaching hire when players interfere in the hiring process.

"Dilfer will coach in Lipscomb's state championship game on Thursday, Dec. 2 before beginning his UAB coaching duties the following day."

"Having the opportunity to lead such a quality program like UAB is one that I am beyond excited about," Dilfer said in a statement. "The investments the university has made for UAB Football aligns with my vision of taking this program to new heights as we join the American Athletic Conference and compete annually for the highest prize of playing in the College Football Playoff. I would like to thank President Ray Watts, Director of Athletics Mark Ingram and the entire search committee for their commitment to excellence and for trusting in me as we venture into this new era of UAB Football together."

UAB players blast coaching search, make case for interim Bryant Vincent in letter to school president

"UAB has been searching for a new full-time football coach since June when Bill Clark announced that he was stepping away from the program for health reasons. Offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent stepped into the role on an interim basis, and UAB's players hope that the athletic department will remove the "interim" tag and make Vincent the permanent head coach.

UAB's players penned a letter to school president Ray Watts urging the school to retain Vincent instead of hiring an outsider to lead the Blazers in 2023.

"We, as the players and the team, want our voices to be heard," the letter read. "We deserve to be heard! We have represented this program and this University and built something special here. We believe in Coach Vincent and want him to be our head coach. This team loves Coach Vincent and believes in him. He is our head coach. He is a great leader, and we follow him. We have had memorable moments throughout the championship seasons and bowl wins, but we have never been closer as a team nor had a tighter brotherhood than we do now."

The letter appears to have been penned after Watts refused to meet with the players to discuss their view of the ongoing coaching search.

"We called your secretary to set up a meeting with our team, but she said that you were too busy to meet with us," the letter read. "We, as a team, respect your time and schedule. We, as a team, want our voices heard. We have fought for and brought championships and bowl wins to this University. Championships and bowl wins that have never been done in the history of the program. We have accomplished things that nobody thought would ever happened here."

The players have seemingly become more frustrated with athletic director Mark Ingram as the process has drawn on, which caused them to write the letter to Watts.

"On June 27, Mark Ingram told us that he would conduct a national search for our coach," the letter read. That was all he said. He didn't talk to any of us players or ask us any questions. That was all he said!!! He didn't talk to us again until November 28. This was after the season! We went through an entire season of uncertainty and stuck together as a team to reach bowl eligibility for the seventh ... I repeat, the seventh straight year. The only thing that was said to us as a team on November 28 is that he is committed to have this wrapped up in a week. That was it."

Vincent and the Blazers went 6-6 in 2022 and earned a berth in the Bahamas Bowl against Miami (Ohio) in what will be the Blazers' sixth straight bowl appearance. The program returned from a two-year shutdown in 2017, and has made a bowl every season since its re-birth. Bryant played a big role in that run as the Blazers' offensive coordinator from 2018-21. He was also the offensive coordinator of the Blazers in 2014 -- its last season before the shutdown -- when they went 6-6 but did not play in a bowl"

I don't think that is the process. When you are evaluating an existing coach, getting feedback from the players is one element in order to see the attitude in the locker room, practices, etc. It is not the final decision. It is just one element of a lot of elements. If you know you are going outside the organization to find a new coach. meeting with the players is not necessary since they are not party to the options you are looking at for a replacement and have no idea who you are interviewing. There are also two meeting options 1) entire team meetings 2) one on one meetings with select team members. Not meeting with the team doesn't mean that option 2 was not used.

well they were wrong. flat wrong about it. but seeing how lazy they've been on pretty much everything football, were you really surprised? they got lucky with CJF and then CMN. they rolled the dice and got nothing.

^^^THIS^^^---Watt's refused to even meet with the players--imagine that---somebody actually said -NO- to the LIL DARLINGS

Okay----still doesn't change the fact--the players wanted a meeting--and he refused .

That could make a lot of sense, depending on how far along the hiring process was already and if the decision was already made to go outside the current staff to hire a replacement. Sometimes questions come up that are best unanswered in those kinds of situations. Frankly, I could see that taking place having been in a similar situation once. Here is an example that I was involved in. I went to a new radio station as GM and when I was hired, I was told by the owners that we would probably be changing format. When you change format, a lot of jocks lose their jobs. One of the questions I was asked by one of the jocks was...will we be changing format. If I said yes.... I might have a bunch of jocks not show up for work the next day, knowing they were going to get fired soon and no telling what the ones who came to work were going to say on the air about it. If I said no....I would be made out to be a liar when the format change took place. Wish I had never had that meeting with the air staff. I think I said I cannot offer anything meaningful on that question and moved on to the next one. Some interpreted that to mean we were not going to change format. To them, my pants are still on fire.

You sound like a man of integrity ---many-most I think would have just blatantly lied to them---it says a lot about you that you still remember it and that it still seems to bother you in some kinda sorta way
