Cougars beat Southern Indiana
Chicago State beat USI 78-61 with strong shooting on Sunday. Shootibg 50% from the field, 45% from the 3 and going 21/26 from the stripe, Chicago State pulled away in the second half.

Southern Indiana built a 14-3 lead 8 minutes into the game before Chicago State shooting got hot. Chicago outscored USI 75-47 after the 12 minute mark of the first half.

The 4 point halftime lead stretched to 19 eight minutes into the 2nd half and USI never got closer than 13.

I love it, since the OVC wasn't interested in having us as a member, supposedly.

In addition, in the NET, the OVC currently has 3 teams ahead of Chicago State, and 7 behind lol.

The MEAC has 4 ahead, and 4 behind.

The OVC and MEAC seem to be where most of the contact was about a conference home.

With that said, the Summit has some pretty good teams, but also some not good teams. Chicago currently ranks right in the middle. 5 Summit schools ahead and 5 behind the Cougs NET.

The Horizon has 4 teams ahead of CSU and 7 behind.

There is a lot of season to go, and NET for MBB is merely one of myriad factors, but still an important one worth a comparison I think.

Southern Indiana beat their former parent Indiana State, who was around 75 NET and came in with just one loss. It’s always a plus when teams you’ve beat beat other good teams. Helps the NET a bit.

Word on the street is that Chicago State supplied USI with a rack of mixed flat men's balls and women's balls for practice, shoot-around, and pre-game warmup.
I won't as far as to say that affected the outcome, but that's pretty dirty play and unacceptable if you ask me.

Congrats on the win, but maybe let's have a level playing field next time?

Oh, that’s the “word on the street,” eh? And exactly which street might that be?

BS Boulevard? Didn’t Happen Drive? Ludicrous Lane?

It’s just odd that in 9 years of sharing a conference with New Mexico State and with Chicago State hosting hundreds of WAC games, I never once heard anyone make a similar claim.

It was mentioned by none other than our coach and confirmed by our announcer who traveled to the game. While they were being interviewed on our local weekly radio show.

I don't see any reason they'd make up a lie like that as they've not once ever made any similar claims against any other teams. They never say anything negative about any teams, so this really stood out to me.

Just telling you what I heard from what I believe are
very reputable sources.

If I were a coach and my team wasn’t provided any regulation balls to warm up with like is in the NCAA rule book, and the other team wouldn’t provided them when asked, we’d be on our way home and there would be no game.

I doubt the coach made any claims to the level of what you are saying he said.

I mean, you are free to doubt whatever you want, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I'm going off of what was said directly by the coach. Why would I make this up? You can see more discussion of it on the USI forum by others who listened to the same radio show.

RE: Cougars beat Southern Indiana
I would provide a recording of it, but apparently that week's show wasn't posted. I'm assuming it has to do with these shocking comments and the University trying to avoid creating bad PR for either team, especially in our first D1 season. But every other week's show can be found here:

https://usiscreamingeagles.com/podcasts/...adio-show/

The date of the missing broadcast would have been 12/6.

It would be incredibly out of character for our coach to make up a lie like this, and I've never heard him say one negative thing about another team we've played, so this obviously had him riled up pretty bad. It was the 5th game of a road trip, and the team was exhausted from constantly being on the road, so I'm guessing they just wanted to get the game over with and played anyways.
